A Date With Death is a mission in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories given to protagonist Toni Cipriani by Toshiko Kasen, the wife of Yakuza leader Kazuki Kasen, from her apartment in Torrington, Staunton Island, Liberty City.

Mission

Toshiko informs Toni that his actions have infuriated her husband. Toni realizes that he will soon find out, so Toshiko says they'll give his men something to talk about, by going to the opera. Toni gets her limousine and drives them to the Mr. Benz clothing store, where he changes into a tuxedo. They then drive to the Fort Staunton Opera House in Fort Staunton and watch the opera. When they exit, racist Forelli Family henchmen are waiting to kill both Toni and Toshiko. Toni, however, kills all five of the Forelli Family gang members and drives away in the limousine. More Forelli Family men chase them. However, they manage to get rid of the police attention and get back to Toshiko's apartment. As Toshiko and Toni enter her apartment, a Yakuza member sees them and quickly drives off.

Script

Toni Cipriani: Anyone home?

Toshiko Kasen: Mr. Toni? A moment please... My husband is furious. He wonders how you come to know when and where to attack so precisely.

Toni Cipriani: Unless he's a fool, he'll work it out soon enough.

Toshiko Kasen: Perhaps, we should help him. His men gossip like old women. Let's give them something to talk about.

Toni Cipriani: Where are we going?

Toshiko Kasen: The opera.

Toni Cipriani: The opera? Me? You kidding?

Toshiko Kasen: Don't be ridiculous Mr. Toni. Everyone loves the opera. If you bring my car around we can collect your tuxedo. We don't have long, the show starts very soon.

(Toni gets in Toshiko's limo, picks up Toshiko, and they drive toward the Mr. Benz shop in Torrington)

Toshiko Kasen: Do you think I am a bad person, Mr. Toni?

Toni Cipriani: Well, princess, I ain't exactly a saint.

Toshiko Kasen: No... A saint wouldn't be much use to me.

(They arrive at the shop. Toni changes into a Tuxedo and begins to drive to the opera house)

Toshiko Kasen: My husband is samurai, Mr. Toni. He is very strong... but very, very bad. He only married me to become waka-gashira in Liberty City. He has never loved me... he prefers the company of his men. Do you understand?

Toni Cipriani: When he finds out what you're doing, you know he's going to kill you.

Toshiko Kasen: I do not care for life or death anymore, only freedom.

Toni Cipriani: What a relaxing world view.

(Toshiko and Toni watch the opera and then leave the opera house)

Forelli Family Gang Member #1: Italian blood don't mix with no Japo blood.

Forelli Family Gang Member #2: But it'll mix just fine on the sidewalk!

(Forelli Family gang members attack Toni and Toshiko, who begin to escape in a limo with more Forelli Family gang members in pursuit)

Forelli Family Gang Member #3: My car!

Toshiko Kasen: Get us out of here, Toni!

(Toni and Toshiko continue to escape, still being chased by Forelli Family gang members)

Toshiko Kasen: Save me, Toni!

Reward

The reward for completing the mission is $3,000 and the Cash in Kazuki's Chips mission. The Tuxedo Outfit is also unlocked.

Trivia

  • The line “Italian blood don't mix with no Japo blood.” suggests that the Forelli Family is slightly racist.
