Belleville Park or simply Belleville (known well in GTA Advance) is a district in Staunton Island, Liberty City in Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto Advance and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. It borders Bedford Point to the north, Aspatria to the south, Newport to the east, and an unnamed body of water to the west. == Character == Contrary to its name, Belleville Park is actually a district that does not only contain a small, namesake enclave of forest, but also the surrounding urban space. The park itself is a lush, hilly greenspace containing a maze of footpaths, complete with a pond (with an island and adjoining jetty), a boatyard and three basketball courts on the northern end, an obelisk and underground lavatories (with a detailed interior in GTA III) at the center, and a single footbridge and runs over a below-ground footpath to the south. The serene nature of the park is intended to clash with much of Staunton's heavily developed state, and is essentially the only major park in the city. The outskirts of Belleville Park consists of multiple skyscrapers and landmarks across the road from the park. To the west, a row of seemingly residential buildings are lined along the park, as is part of an underground roadway that links Bedford Point to Aspatria. To the south are a set of skyscrapers, as well as a "Town Hall" seemingly inspired by the New York City Hall building. To the east are skyscrapers that are also partially located in Newport, including an unnamed shopping mall. Finally, the southern side of Belleville Park encompasses a large number of mixed use commercial and residential buildings. Belleville Park is also the terminating point for the Shoreside Lift Bridge, connected via a ribbon-shared overpass. The park is loosely based off of New York City´s Central Park, since this rendition of Liberty City is based off of New York City to a certain extent. However, Belleville Park is much smaller than its real-life counter-part. The obelisk in the park may be based on the Cleopatra's Needle in Central Park, but is only similar in the form, not in detail. Probably "Belleville Park" derives its name from the nearby Manhattan suburb of Belleville, New Jersey. == Places of interest == South Belleville Park is most notably the location of the player's Staunton Island safehouse in GTA III, while corrupt police officer Ray Machowski issues orders to the player from within the park's underground lavatories. In addition, a Landstalker parked in front of the park's lake is primary intended to activate a checkpoint side mission, known as "A Ride in the Park". The GTA Liberty City Stories rendition of the park also spawns a Molotov Cocktail, a Police Bribe and a Health pickup; Avenging Angels members may also be seen roaming around the area. Staunton's fire station is located on the northwestern corner of Belleville Park, close to Aspatria, spawning a Fire Truck. ==Businesses== ;GTA III (2001) Col-begin Col-2 *Bank of Liberty *Cafe Metropolitan *Capitali *Fabric-8 *Hytexti Col-2 *SEMI *Sommers Real Estate *TW@ Internet Cafe *Uncle BJ's Deli & Groceries Col-end == Trivia == *"Belle ville" is French for "beautiful city". *The interior of the park's underground toilet in GTA III is reused at the end of Manhunt's "Doorway into Hell" level. *In GTA Liberty City Stories, set in 1998, Mayor [[Roger C. I know GTA4 was a masterpiece but I have to ask: Does anyone like the new serious dramatic approach of the GTA games or prefer the chaotic, silly, and sick way the older GTAs were? Another question what locale do you want the series to go? I like the dramatic approach and I would like it in a Canadian setting.

It's a newer technology generation now. Most gamers want better definition on their games and, as you all know, change brings more change. So along with the better definition comes more serious gameplay. So no, I don't believe we'll be driving fully fortified tanks through the streets of Alderney any time soon.

A Canadian setting would be much to my liking, too. Montreal and Vancouver would be the best cities to duplicate as both are very cosmopolitan and have colorful crime histories. I'd especially like to see GTA: City of Ice in a Montreal-like setting.

Whatever R* do to the GTA Series, they must keep it in the USA,and only at major cities.

The whole charm of the GTA series is the american dream, the american cities, with all due respect,no Canadian,Europian or Asian setting will work, not for GTA atleast.

About the direction the series took with drama,I dont like it that much,I was always comforted with the silly overall atmoshpere, but GTA IV has enough of it,and it's dramatic ending is just like every other GTA's,maybe a bit more dramatic, but overall, its comparable to San andreas' ending and Vice city Stories'.

People keep suggesting real cities too, part of GTA's charm is that it is subtle take on american life, the oversized engines in cars, the exaggerated use of guns etc. setting it in a real city, especially one out of america, would ruin it. (and im not even american!)

I much rather the 'new' GTA IV way. I find it more fun. Is that weird? --Stankers 20:34, December 16, 2009 (UTC)

I like to see gta go into a florida type area (wouldn't it be cool if there was a few missions where you had to kill a specific target and then have to dump him into a swamp!) or continue on with liberty city (possibly vice city) but it would be nice to see san andreas again but with a little bit more realism because san andreas was (i'll admit) fun but it wasnt as fun as it could have been. Where-as if they re-make it it would oviously have better graphics and with feedback that people have been giving after GTA IV was released I would assume they would let us choose the race, voice, and maybe even gender. could really make a much better game if they did it that way! But that's just my opinion!

I am definitely against a form of role playing like you described. The basic core of GTA doesn't have extensive role playing. It's mainly about telling the story of one unique person. This is GTA, not SR. GTA should be innovating itself instead of copying core aspects of other games.--Spaceeinstein 01:37, December 17, 2009 (UTC)
