In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, he stars in the popular MeTV series Stunt Double. He appears in a radio advertisement on Wave 103 in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories and on MeTV News on the GTA Vice City Stories website for the advocacy group Consider Our Kids Everyday. Cranley warns against the use of drugs and admits to having had problems with drugs in the past. He was arrested by the VCPD, although he was later released, claiming it was a stunt double committing the crimes. At the end of the advertisement he jumps, unsecured, off a skyscraper.
In GTA V, it is revealed that he was once married to Jolene Cranley-Evans and lived with her in Sandy Shores, Blaine County. While Jock wanted to move to Los Santos and begin his career as a stuntman, Jolene wanted to stay in Blaine county to care for her ailing father Jeb Evans. Jolene fell to her death from Mount Gordo on March 14, 1978, supposedly by accident. Jock was arrested but released the following day without charge, though Jeb Evans called for a police investigation. Cranley moved to Vinewood and went on to star in the 1985 film 18 Wheeler Deathrace.
In 2013, having retired from a successful acting career, he runs for Governor of San Andreas as a Republican. In his gubernatorial campaign, Cranley claims to hate immigrants and the crippled and says that he cannot stand unions, cops and old ladies. Unlike his opponent Sue Murry, Cranley believes that people should help themselves instead of looking for a helping hand from the government. According to a Los Santos newspaper seen in Murry's rivaling ad, he plans to abolish taxes by selling unneeded parkland and cutting school budgets by 98%.
- Jolene Cranley-Evans - (pushed her off of a cliff to further his own ambitions)
- Three actors, Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sonny Bono, have been elected as Republicans to high public office in California. The former two were Governors. In addition, Alan Autry, Clint Eastwood and Jack Kelly have all been Republican mayors of small cities in California.
- The high-contrast red and blue image of Cranley seen in the preview, captioned "Dick", is a parody of the Barack Obama "Hope" poster.
- In the Strangers and Freaks strand "Vinewood Souvenirs", Trevor Philips is repeatedly mistaken for Jock by Nigel and Mrs. Thornhill.
