Alderney State Correctional Facility

The Alderney State Correctional Facility is a prison in south Alderney in Grand Theft Auto IV. It is programmed in the game to also be it's own area, not administrated by Acter Industrial Park which encloses it. It appears to be a medium security prison, as there are many armed guards patrolling the area, barbed wire fences and guard towers. It is not a maximum or supermax security prison, as such facilities are not located in or near most major cities. It overlooks the West River and Algonquin. Even though the gates are heavily guarded, there is no mission involving prison breaks. Niko Bellic won't receive any wanted star levels if he enters the prison unless he shoots or hits an inmate or guard. The only known inmate is Gerald McReary (Currently Serving). Billy Grey also did time there before The Lost Brotherhood broke in during the mission Get Lost. These inmates were incarcerated on various charges. Gerald McReary received a lengthy sentence for various charges including the kidnapping of Gracie Ancelotti. Billy Grey was, most likely, in for a parole violation and possible possesion of illegal firearm. The only way to gain access inside the prison is to use a helicopter or to use an ambulance or truck to jump over the wall. In multiplayer mode the player can drive through the entrance into the grounds. There are no guards or inmates in multiplayer mode.

The Lost and Damned

In The Lost and Damned and also in The Ballad of Gay Tony even if there is no reason for it, entering the facility will give you a three-star wanted level and the facility's alarm going off. This does not happen in the original GTA IV. The prison is used during the mission "Get Lost". This is because of The Lost Brotherhood attacking the prison.
