Ashley Butler (1981 - 2013) is a character in the HD Universe who appears in Grand Theft Auto IV as a minor character, appears in The Lost and Damned as a supporting character and appears in Grand Theft Auto V as a minor character. She is the ex "old lady" of Johnny Klebitz, the former President and Vice President of the Alderney chapter of The Lost Brotherhood motorcycle gang and was once a known associate of Ray Boccino, a capo of the Pegorino Family. She is voiced by Traci Godfrey in her two appearances.

Character history

Ashley Butler, at some point prior to 2008, had been in a relationship with Billy Grey and Johnny Klebitz of The Lost Brotherhood and Ray Boccino of the Pegorino Family. She is a drug addict had been arrested in 2001 for possessing cocaine at the age of twenty. Boccino used his old relationship with her to form an alliance between the Pegorino Family and The Lost Brotherhood, having The Lost members steal several diamonds from Gay Tony. Boccino, however, does show concern for her and her addiction during the mission Taking in the Trash in Grand Theft Auto IV. The player can also occasionally call her after certain missions to hear her input on what's going on in the The Lost and Damned's storyline.

Following the events of The Lost and Damned, if the player calls Ashley, she will ask for forty dollars, which Johnny declines, saying that she can kill herself on her own. She e-mails Johnny once more to tell him that she had checked into rehab, and was doing well. Johnny wishes her good luck but also tells her to stay away from him. A few in-game days later, she sends Johnny another e-mail reluctantly confessing that she was kicked out of the rehab facility and asking Johnny for yet more money, to which Johnny reinforces his wishes for her to stop contacting him. She is not heard or seen from again after this point in the game.

Ashley later reunites with Johnny Klebitz and the remaining members of the Alderney chapter of The Lost Brotherhood. The group moves to Blaine County, San Andreas, with the gang basing themselves in Stab City and merging with the Los Santos chapter. Ashley and Johnny begin dating again with Johnny becoming the Vice President of the Los Santos chapter. The gang, however, become addicted to the methamphetamine they are manufacturing and selling in Blaine County and then begin working for Trevor Philips, another methamphetamine dealer. Ashley begins having sex with Trevor, much to Johnny's annoyance, with the protagonist of Grand Theft Auto Online having to steal a van owned by The Lost to have sex with her. In late 2013 Johnny catches Ashley having sex with Trevor and confronts Trevor after Wade Hebert and Ron Jakowski attempt to hold him back.

Trevor, having just discovered his old partner in crime he thought was dead is still alive and living in the nearby Los Santos, begins talking to Johnny before suddenly attacking him. Trevor breaks a beer bottle over Johnny's head and then repeatedly stomps on his head, killing Johnny. Ashley then runs over to Johnny and begins crying having realised that Trevor had killed him. The player, as Trevor, then has the option of killing or sparing Ashley. If the player kills Ashley, Wade suggests burying the bodies in the desert so The Lost do not find out although Trevor brushes this off as 'disrespecting a lady'. If she is spared, she threatens the group on Ron's Lifeinvader page but a news reporter shortly after Mr. Richards states that she died in a drug fueled sex orgy in Paleto Bay with Lars Mitchell, Tommy Tamons, Jude Melon and Eric Ainsworth (all men at least 20 years older than her).

• It is implied through dialogue that Ashley and Billy Grey slept together while she was still dating Johnny Klebitz, hence their break-up.
• Ashley's e-mail address is ashleybutlerxxx@eyefind.info.
• Ashley's appearance has changed between games. Her skin is noticeably more pale and shows to have lost some weight.
• Similar to Carmen Ortiz (who had slept with Niko Bellic and Luis Lopez at different points) Ashley has had sex with more than one protagonist. Johnny and Trevor Phillps.
• Ashley is one of the few characters in the Grand Theft Auto series that can die from an overdose.
