His life can be spared if the player chooses, only for Clarence to appear later as a random character. Clarence has been bitter over being threatened at gunpoint, and seeks revenge on Niko. Niko is forced to take Clarence out for good this time, and he can be killed however the player pleases. The player can even make Niko drive away from Clarence, who will jack a car of his own and chase Niko. It is also possible just to let the police kill him, as he will only have a pistol.
