Nomination

I nominate GTA4PC to become a member of staff. His/Her edits are of consistant quality and has shown good knowledge of how the wiki works.

GTA4PC, please reply with whether you accept or decline this nomination, and why.

I accept this nomination and the reasons I would want to become a staff around here would be that I try my best to keep the articles as clean as possible and help my best to put as much information as possible to pages I contribute to. --GTA 4 PC 00:07, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Questions

Do you think vandalism is a big problem at GTW? How would you deal with someone who did something like delete all the content on one page? What might be the possible reasons for them doing that? Gboyers talk 16:18, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Not really, vandalism around here is not much of a problem compared to wikipedia which has got every-day vandals. If someone would delete all content or something, I would just revert what they did and send them a warning to their talk page. The reason for them doing it must be that they are bored or they think it's funny. --GTA 4 PC 16:43, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

What do you think is the hardest thing for new editors to get the hang of (whether a technical skill, a policy or just the way we do things here); how would you spot they were having difficulty; and how would you help them? Maybe explain what was the hardest thing you've had to learn whilst being here? Gboyers talk 16:18, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

The hardest thing to get used to is formatting a page properly without small issues like red links or other things a little hard to spot. I am glad to help users who keep having difficulties with doing a 'near-perfect' edit that lacks errors and other grammar issues, and how would I help them? Well I try my best to explain it in an understandable way and be friendly. --GTA 4 PC 16:43, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Becoming staff isn't a reward for good edits. It's work that needs to be done on the wiki, so it's a job. Why do you think that you would be best for that job? Biggest GTA Fan EverTalk 22:34, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Comments

I just went through this users contribs and randomly clicked the diffs links. An important part of being staff is knowing how the wiki works, and this user does. Examples are the basics, such as using GTA San Andreas for the game and San Andreas for the place (I just patrolled an edit where this user fixed that). Another example is using Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (long name) on the first mention of a game (another edit I just patrolled). The two main things that moderators are trusted with are the patrolling system, and the ability to move pages. Both of these tools require knowing how the wiki works, as you need to know how to improve an edit that you patrol (or what a good edit is), or what to move a page to. I think that GTA4PC could be trusted with both those tools. GTA4PC, How would you use the new tools (see here for a list) to help the wiki? Biggest GTA Fan EverTalk 08:16, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

I would do my best and use them as good as possible. Specially when it comes to vandalism. --GTA 4 PC 11:53, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
