Dardan Petrela is a character in the Grand Theft Auto series and a minor character in Grand Theft Auto IV, where is a member of the Albanian Mob.

Character history

Dardan Petrela was born in Albanian and later moved to Liberty City in the United States, joining the Albanian Mob. He later began working with Kalem and Bledar Morina as loan sharks in Broker, basing themselves in Hove Beach. They began lending money to various people, including taxi company owner Roman Bellic to fund his gambling. The trio, despite pressure from Vladimir Glebov of the Faustin Family, continued to pressure Roman for re-payments on the loan.

Petrela, at one point, tracked Roman to a poker game and forced him to flee with help from his cousin, Niko. Petrela then tracked him down to his taxi depot in Broker and, along with Morina, visited Roman and throw a computer to the ground but are chased away by Niko, who managed to break Petrela's arm in the process.

Petrela, Morina and Vulaj later track Roman down, cornering him on a basketball court in Firefly Projects. Petrela leaves the scene and, in his abscence, Roman is saved by Niko, who beats up (or, depending on the players choice, kills) Morina and Vulaj. Petrela, upon returning the court, flees in his beige Willard but is chased by Niko and Roman. Petrela abandoned his car and ran into a warehouse, where he was confronted by Niko. Petrela, armed with a knife, attempted to kill Bellic. Bellic, however, managed to beat up Petrela (although the player can decide to kill Petrela), before returning to Roman in his car. Petrela, Morina and Vulaj do not attempt to get their money back after being confronted by Niko. If the player decides not to kill Dardan, the LCPD database will state that he is dead, meaning he presumably died from his injuries not long after Niko beat him up.

Trivia

  • In the mission, It's Your Call, it is revealed Dardan drives a unique beige coloured Willard. The vehicle can be obtained during the mission Bleed Out, although the car can not be driven during the mission, as this results in the mission being failed.
  • It is possible that the reason Dardan and Bledar like to harass Roman violently is because of his country of origin, with many Serbs and Albanians targeting each other during the Yugoslav wars.
  • If the player has a gun, Niko can shoot Dardan in the head near the window which results him falling into the river, dead.
  • In Three's a Crowd, Dardan is wearing a white shirt under his jacket and in Bleed Out he wears a blue and grey shirt under his leather jacket, however when the cutscene for Dardan falling out the window appers, he can occasionally be seen wearing the white undershirt.
  • His clothes are identical to Dwayne Forge.
  • His name is very similar to Swedish soccer player Dardan Rexhepi who is of Albanian descent.
