There are many references to the real world film industry within the Grand Theft Auto series, appearing throughout the series from Grand Theft Auto 1 to Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. These are mainly in missions featuring similar stories and elements of actual films or in-game films featuring similar plots and/or names. Video games from the series have also appeared in films subsequent to the games release.
