Forums GTA Theres no way that san andreas and GTA 4 is in a different "canon"

heres proof:

There are still the same fast food restaurants, like cluckin bell and burger shot.

CJ is in a TV show, suggesting he is still alive despite the writings on some of the walls, although in that TV show he looks the same as he was in 1992.

Vice City is mentioned by Roman.

Someone emails Niko showing the whattheydontwantyoutoknow.com website, the person sending it is "TheTrooth".

Mike Toreno has to be United Liberty Paper. United Paper looks like the older version of Toreno, and they both have the exact same personality. They both provide missions to kill people who want to expose what type of government they are working for.

In Comrades Bar, an album from OG Loc is shown in the jukebox.

There are others, but this is all i could think from the top of my head.

They are called "easter eggs" (I don't know what word is better to describe this). The storyline is the main thing that determines if the two games are part of the same universe. Both universes are similar, not the same.--Spaceeinstein 01:15, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

It's only an opinion made by some you can disagree or agree i think it is the same "era" for instance the man who's name is not reveled that works for U.L. Paper could definatley be Mike Toreno --Roman bellic 03:49, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Considering the fact that Rockstar Games, themselves, confirmed that GTA IV takes place in a different canon - before the game was even released - it really should be pretty obvious by now that it isn't an "opinion" (I'm sure "GTA IV has NO ties to previous games" was their exact words). As for all the reused company names, radio celebrities, vehicle names etc, I think it's blatantly obvious that they just reused them for the sake of reusing them - I mean, why bother thinking up a ton of new things if you can just expand upon older ideas on a "fresh canvas", so to speak. And yes, all those little pieces of footage from GTA SA on the TV, as well as the various minor references to the GTA III Era are just "easter eggs", little references put there for fans to recognise. Nobody seems to have any problems with the obvious fact that GTA III takes place in a different canon that GTA 1, so I don't know why people find this so difficult to accept. I'm sure you will still choose not to accept this, but if you think that a city, as well as the land surrounding it, can be completely redeveloped in just 6 years, then fair enough - although that, in itself, obviously rules out the possibility that the GTA III Era and GTA IV Era are related. - Hardrock182 07:51, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

just because c.j is on tv doesnt mean he is still alive, that may be recorded in 1992.

But if CJ died, that would create a huge impact on the media, as he is also Madd Dogg's manager. Also on the Fruntalot billboard. How many companies use dead people as models?--Vvvvvvvvvv 05:59, November 17, 2009 (UTC)

If Rockstar wanted, they could make Vice City, GTA Vice City Stories, and GTA San Andreas canon with the IV Era because the only games that conflict with GTA IV's storyline would be GTA III, GTA Liberty City Stories and GTA Advance. Everything else would still work fine. Grand Theft AJ 12:03, November 22, 2009 (UTC)

But, as all games between GTA III and Vice City Stories are all tied into each other (said to be all part of the same canon), you can't make just Vice City, Vice City Stories and San Andreas canon without making the others canon, and for that to happen, they would have to say that at some point between GTA III and GTA IV Liberty City underwent massive reconstruction, such as the renaming of Stauton Island to Algonquin etc. But, since they have already made the history of this Liberty CIty different to the one in GTA III, I doubt that we will see any real link between the GTA III-era and the GTA IV-era.
