The Grand Theft Auto V Era refers to a canonical era of Grand Theft Auto games, which includes Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. Both GTA V Era games are set in Los Santos, with two missions set in Ludendorff, North Yankton. They both take place in the HD Universe, as designated by Rockstar.

These games are grouped together mainly because they have interlinking characters, storylines, and locations, specifically GTA V's rendition of Los Santos. This is also known as the fifth generation of GTA games released in 2013. With a few exceptions (most notably former radio host Lazlow hosting CNT TV show "Fame or Shame", the GTA V games are not considered to exist in the same "universe" or continuity as any of the games of the GTA III Era.

Grand Theft Auto V starts a new era, but is part of the same Universe as the GTA IV Era. This means that some characters and storylines cross over into the new era (e.g. The Lost MC's Alderney chapter moving to Blaine County, former Ancelotti soldier Rocco Pelosi becoming a Vinewood talent agent, etc). However, the vast majority of features and characters will not appear in the GTA V Era.

Grand Theft Auto V Grand Theft Auto V (2013) is set in Los Santos in 2013. It was released simultaneously for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. Rockstar have not as of yet announced that they were going to publish GTA V for PC. The game takes place in a redesigned Los Santos that very closely resembles Los Angeles, much more than previous renditions. The protagonists are Michael De Santa, a 48-year-old retired bank robber coming out of retirement, Trevor Philips a 48-year-old psychotic and hotheaded bank robber and former partner of Michael's, and Franklin Clinton, a 26-year-old gangster and repo man.

Grand Theft Auto Online Grand Theft Auto Online (2013) is the online counterpart for GTA V. It is included with Grand Theft Auto V, and requires the GTA V game disc to access. GTAO's storyline is set just before the main GTA V storyline and the protagonist is user-created. This user-created protagonist will interact with characters carried over from GTA V, new characters not appearing in GTA V, as well as other user-created protagonists.
