Give Me Liberty is the first mission of Grand Theft Auto III and serves as the opening sequence that the player has control of. The next mission, Luigi's Girls, follows on directly from Give Me Liberty, with the player having no option but to take the mission. The mission involves the main character (revealed as Claude Speed in GTA: SA) and local explosives expert and businessman 8-Ball.

Mission
The mission begins on the Callahan Bridge, which has had a section destroyed by a bomb planted by the Colombian Cartel. Claude and 8-Ball, who had manage to receive no injuries (although 8-Ball had already sustained burns to the hands), escape in an abandoned Kuruma. 8-Ball enters the back of the car, and the player then gets control of the game.
Claude enters the car, and drives 8-Ball to a safehouse in the Red Light District, (Portland, Liberty City), which is owned by Eddie's. They change clothes, so as not to be seen in their orange prison clothing. They then drive round the block to Luigi's Sex Club Seven to meet Luigi Goterelli, co-manager of the club, who may have work for Claude.

8-Ball: I know a place on the edge of the Red Light District where we can lay low, but my hands are all messed up so you better drive, brother.

8-Ball (at safehouse): This is the place right here, let's get off the street and find a change of clothes!
- After changing clothes
8-Ball: I know this guy, he's connected, his name is Luigi. Me an' him go back so I could probably get you some work. C'mon lets head over there.
