Rosie has relapsed and is high on cocaine when Carl enters. The drug gives Rosie a confidence boost and he decides to venture outside the office and show the city who's boss. Rosie decides to go to visit the [[Sindacco Family]] at their [[Sindacco Abattoir|abattoir]] to visit [[Johnny Sindacco]], who is recuperating there after being [[Intensive Care|discharged earlier]] from the [[Las Venturas Hospital|hospital]].

Carl and Rosie make their way to [[Whitewood Estates]], where the abattoir is housed at. When they arrive at the abattoir, Carl tries to stay behind, knowing that if Johnny recognises him, there will be trouble. However, Rosie begs Carl to come with him, his confidence faltering. Unfortunately, Johnny suffers another heart attack when Carl steps out of the shadows during the meeting and dies. The Sindaccos realize that Johnny had a heart-attack due to [[Fender Ketchup|a previous encounter]] with Carl, so they launch an attack on the two. Carl and Rosie fight their way out of the abattoir, making sure there are no witnesses left alive before driving back to Caligula's Palace. During the trip back, Rosie realizes how screwed he would be after this. Carl promises him that he would think of something to get him out of the trouble.

* The player can fail the mission by getting inside the freezer that Rosie is hiding in and wait until the freezer door closes. The mission will fail along with a message "You are trapped in the freezer with Rosenberg". The player will respawn in a nearby hospital as if Carl was wasted.

The Meat Business is a mission in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas given to protagonist Carl "CJ" Johnson by disbarred former lawyer and casino manager Ken "Rosie" Rosenberg from the office in Caligula's Palace, a casino located along The Strip in Las Venturas, San Andreas.

Mission

Rosie has relapsed and is high on cocaine when Carl enters. The drug gives Rosie a confidence boost and he decides to venture outside the office and show the city who's boss. Rosie decides to go to visit the Sindacco Family at their abattoir to visit Johnny Sindacco, who is recuperating there after being discharged earlier from the hospital.

Carl and Rosie make their way to Whitewood Estates, where the abattoir is housed at. When they arrive at the abattoir, Carl tries to stay behind, knowing that if Johnny recognises him, there will be trouble. However, Rosie begs Carl to come with him, his confidence faltering. Unfortunately, Johnny suffers another heart attack when Carl steps out of the shadows during the meeting and dies. The Sindaccos realize that Johnny had a heart-attack due to a previous encounter with Carl, so they launch an attack on the two. Carl and Rosie fight their way out of the abattoir, making sure there are no witnesses left alive before driving back to Caligula's Palace. During the trip back, Rosie realizes how screwed he would be after this. Carl promises him that he would think of something to get him out of the trouble.

Script

Rosie: Oh, ha ha ha ha! Baby, I'm back, I AM BACK! Let's get this show on the road!

Paul: The good doctors revived the patient! Sweet as, my son, sweet as!

Maccer: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

CJ: (enters) So everything's straight now?

Rosie: (rises) No! Absolutely not! I'm still screwed! Absolutely screwed, but at least now I'm in the right frame of mind. What the fuck are we going to do? (goes towards a host of photo frames) Any minute now, some Mafia bullet is going to splatter my brains all over the wall! My wall, my beautiful wall...

Maccer: Ooh, you missed a bit. I'll have that.

Tony: Forgeddaboudit.

Rosie: Oh, that's a great idea, Tony, but you know what? It ain't going to work, OK? Not this time, no way, no way...

CJ: Look, man, relax, get a grip...

Rosie: Yeah, you're right, I need to get a grip!

CJ: Take control...

Rosie: Yes, grab the bull by the horns!

CJ: And show everybody who's boss...

Rosie: I'm the boss! I-am-the-boss!

CJ: Alright then! (rises)

Rosie: All right! Let's tear this town up! (proceeds to head out)

CJ: That's what I'm sayin'! So, where we going?

Rosie: Details, details! Let's just get there!

Paul: (as Carl and Rosie leave) Rack them up, Maccer. What's the matter with you?

(Carl and Rosie are outside the casino.)

CJ: OK, boss man, where to?

Rosie: We're going to pay the Sindacco's a visit. See how Johnny is, win him over with some (sniffs) kind words during his convalescence.

CJ: Oh yeah, sure, fine, I can take you there.

Rosie: Yeah, cool, great! We need a car. (once they start riding on) I've gotta get out of this game. Shit, my nose is pissing like a race horse (sniffs). That is really good stuff. Hey drive faster, would you please? C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, what are you, an old lady?

CJ: So you trying to get out?

Rosie: Yes. God, yes. I want to do something safe and legal and boring, with people that like me. And have a wife and some kids and get divorced and fight for weekend access, like everybody else.

CJ: Listen. I'll see what I can do.

Rosie: Thanks, I'm just so tired of all this life or death bullshit. (sniffs) Oh, shit, shit's all down my (sniffs) damned shirt, and everything. Oh, that's my best shirt too, doesn't this shirt look good on me?

(Both arrive at the Sindacco Abattoir in Whitewood Estates.)

Rosie: OK, let's get this over with. I'm the boss, I am the boss! I'm the boss, I am the boss! Yeah, (sniffs) yeah...

(Carl and Rosie enter the abattoir, but Carl hangs back.)

Rosie: What's going on? You forget something?

CJ: No - look, you go on in, I'm gonna wait.

Rosie: Look, you gotta come with me this once. If I pull this off, I can carry on, I know I can, but please, you gotta come with me - I'm gonna squirt my ass all over the floor! Just this once pleasepleasepleaseplease...

CJ: Okay, okay - chill! (to himself) Shit, this can't look good. (to Rosie) Listen, everything's gonna be OK. Just remember; you're the boss!

Rosie: I'm the boss? (Carl nods in agreement) I'm the boss. (starts shouting) I'm the boss. I'm the boss! I am the boss!

(Carl and Rosie outside the room where Johnny is resting.)

Rosie: Hey, boys. Tell your boss that Rosie is here to see him.

Doorman 1: Ken who?

Rosie: K-Ken Rosenberg... Ken Rosenberg! The guy that runs this town!

(Doorman 1 goes into Johnny's room.)

Rosie: So, uh, how's Johnny?

Doorman 2: He's doing much better, yeah. He ate something this morning.

(Johnny comes out of his room in a wheelchair.)

Johnny: Heeyyy, Ken... (crashes the wheelchair's end into the wall) Ah, Christ, this fucking thing... (gets out and meets Rosie) Ken... Como esta e, eh, how you doing?

Rosie: Pretty good. And you?

Johnny: Ah, still got a little bit of the night terrors, touch of diarrhea, but I'll get through it. (starts looking for someone in the shadows)

Rosie: Huh, diarrhea, cool! Yeah...

Johnny: (identifies someone) And who's this...?

(Carl, who has been standing in the shadow, steps forward.)

CJ: How you doing, Johnny?

Johnny: It's fucking him... It's him! (pulls his wheelchair backwards) Oh my God... Oh God... It's him... Aaargghh! (clutches his chest and falls to the ground) My heart! Euchh... my heart...

(Johnny falls to the floor, wheezing and clutching his chest. finally dying.)

CJ: Damn, that nigga fucked up!

(Realizing that Carl was responsible for Johnny's death, the Sindaccos attack him and Rosie, creating a wall of fire with a cocktail molotov.)

CJ: Shit, they've started a fire to keep us back! There must be an extinguisher here somewhere, find it!

Rosie: Carl, leave no witnesses or we're dead meat! (gets the fire extinguisher) Got the extinguisher, I got the extinguisher! Take those guys out and I'll put out the flames! Stand back, I' gonna blast these flames! (extinguishes the flames) Well, what are you waiting for? (sees Carl's actions) Screw this, I'm going to hide in the freezer! ( as Carl continues to attack the thugs) This is so exciting, Tommy, it's like old times!

CJ: Who the fuck is Tommy?

(Carl kills more thugs.)

Rosie: Holy fuck, what is it about my luck? I'm screwed! (as Carl continues attack the thugs) We gotta do something! ( as Carl kills more thugs) Well done, CJ! (while both continue to make their way out) Shit, this is insane!

(Carl kills all the thugs in the first meat factory area.)

CJ: OK, it's clear!

Rosie: I'm never doin' drugs again, never ever, ever ever! (once Carl has killed everyone) The exit's through the stock house. (once outside and as they start driving back to Caligula's Palace) Shit, we gotta get the fuck outta here! We need some wheels! Get me back to Caligula's!

CJ: You calm down, and follow my lead.

Rosie: Holy fuck, man, we work well as a team togeteher, huh, CJ? You and me, tearing this town up. Nobody can stop us, nobody in the world!

CJ: Johnny's a done deal. And so is his gang.

Rosie: Too fucking right they are, dumb pussies! Oh fuck! I'm screwed! I'm fucking screwed! What the fuck am I going to do? Shit, shit, SHIIIIT....

CJ: You just got to hang in there. Play it dumb. I'll figure out a way to get you out of this.

Rosie: Just drop me at the airport!

CJ: Nah man, they gotta think you dead. I'll think of something. I promise.

(Both arrive at Caligula's Palace and have a brief conversation.)

CJ: Get in there, and be cool. Like you been out for a relaxing drive or something.

Rosie: Calm, yeah, calm. I'm calm. REAL FUCKING calm! I'm calm, Mr. Calm, Mr. Calm, that's me, Mr. Calm. (leaves)

Reward

The rewards for this mission are $8,000 and an increase in respect. The missions Madd Dogg and Fish in a Barrel are unlocked.

Post-mission phone call script

Catalina: I know it's you, you stinking perro!

CJ: Look, just say what you gotta say. I ain't interested in these stupid games!

Catalina: Stupid games? This is my heart you play with!

CJ: What? Look, you... Damn! Gotta change my number!

Trivia

  • As they escape the abattoir, Rosie will utter comments to Carl under the illusion he is escaping alongside Tommy Vercetti, his former partner. Rosie mentions Tommy's first name instead of Carl's, leading to Carl asking Rosie who Tommy is.
  • The player can fail the mission by getting inside the freezer that Rosie is hiding in and wait until the freezer door closes. The mission will fail along with a message "You are trapped in the freezer with Rosenberg". The player will respawn in a nearby hospital as if Carl was wasted.
  • The comment where Rosie says to Carl where he thought he was with Tommy Vercetti is a reference to the film Reservoir Dogs.
