GTA Vice City Stories |
|Full Name||Jock Cranley|
Jock Cranley is a character in both GTA Vice City Stories and Grand Theft Auto V. In Vice City Stories, he is an actor and stuntman appearing in films and adverts; in GTA V he is a republican candidate for governor of San Andreas.
In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, he stars in the popular MeTV series Stunt Double. He appears in a radio advertisement on Wave 103 in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories and on MeTV News on the GTA Vice City Stories website for the advocacy group Consider Our Kids Everyday. Cranley warns against the use of drugs and admits to having had problems with drugs in the past. He was arrested by the VCPD, although he was later released, claiming it was a stunt double committing the crimes. At the end of the advertisement he jumps, unsecured, off a skyscraper.
In GTA V, it is detailed that he is a former Vinewood actor and stuntman appearing in the 1985 film 18 Wheeler Deathrace. In his gubernatorial campaign, Cranley claims to hate immigrants and the crippled and says that he cannot stand unions, cops and old ladies. Unlike his opponent Sue Murry, Cranley believes that people should help themselves instead of looking for a helping hand from the government. According to a Los Santos newspaper seen in Murry's rivaling ad, he plans to abolish taxes by selling unneeded parkland and cutting school budgets by 98%.
- Jock Cranley's running for governor is a reference to real-life actor and later future governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger.
- The high-contrast red and blue image of Cranley seen in the preview, captioned "Dick", is a parody of the Barack Obama "Hope" poster.
- Jock is one of the few character to cross from the 3D to HD universes
