Mount Chiliad

Mount Chiliad is a half mile (800 m) tall mountain located in Whetstone, San Andreas. It is reportedly based upon the real-life Mount Diablo in Contra Costa County, California. Immediately to the north is the bustling city of San Fierro, while just to the south, at the mountain's base, is the small town of Angel Pine.

Mount Chiliad is a motocrossers' paradise with a huge embankment to cycle down. Races are held here in the daytime to determine the ultimate motocrossing champion. If the player wins, then he goes on the the next round of cycling. Getting in second place or worse causes the player to repeat that certain round.

Mount Chiliad is a huge mountain and exiting the mountain can be risky. Vehicles can be seen parked and the player can use it to exit the mountain, either the easy way (slowly and carefully drive down the mountain) or the hard way (the player launches his/her vehicle into the ramp, causing them to descend to the mountain rapidly, and sustain heavy damage, if landed on the roof). If the player dives down the mountain without a parachute (if the health bar has not reached maximum), the player will be instantly killed once landing hard on the ground. Only the parachute will help and prevent the player from landing hard, thus being killed while freefalling from the mountain. There have been seen footprints (of bigfoot) in Mount Chiliad.

Events of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

After the deadly shoot-out with the Ballas under the Mulholland Intersection in Los Santos, Carl Johnson is dragged by C.R.A.S.H. officers Frank Tenpenny and Eddie Pulaski to the remote town of Angel Pine, at the base of Mount Chiliad. Here, the officers compel Carl to do their dirty work for them far out of town and away from the watchful eye of the Los Santos Internal Affairs Department. Armed with only a camera, Carl's first task is to ferret out a witness hiding in a cabin on Mount Chiliad, which is being guarded by the FBI. Carl makes his way up the mountain and flushes the witness out of the cabin, who tries to make his escape down the mountain in a car. Carl chases after him and quickly kills him, phtographing the body as evidence for Tenpenny and Pulaski that the witness to their corruption has been silenced.
