Ralph Pendelbury is a character in the 3D Universe who appears as a minor character in The Introduction for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (set in 1992). He was a member of the Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums division of the Los Santos Police Department. He has no speaking role in his brief appearance.

Character history

Life

Ralph Pendelbury was born at an unknown location in the United States of America and at an unknown time joined the Los Santos Police Department. He was later transferred to the Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums division of the police force, which was being led by the corrupt Frank Tenpenny and his favourite officer Eddie Pulaski. The two had come to see their job more about 'percentages' and keeping each of the city's gang equal. Pendelbury, however, could not be corrupted by Tenpenny and Pulaski, and later began to give information about their activities to internal affairs.

Pendelbury was later removed from C.R.A.S.H., while giving evidence, and was replaced by Jimmy Hernandez, who was working undercover to gather information to back up Pendelbury's allegations. Tenpenny and Pulaski, however, decide to 'initiate' Hernandez into their criminal activities by forcing him, at gun point, to kill Pendelbury after they located him in Ocean Docks and Pulaski had badly beaten him.

Legacy

The gun used to kill Pendelbury was later handed to Carl Johnson, to get his finger prints so as to hold the evidence against him, which resulted in Johnson working for the three on various occasions. These include to kill a 'cop killing' Los Santos Vagos gangster and to disrupt a meeting between the Ballas and Russian Mafia. Tenpenny and Pulaski also hired Johnson to do various jobs to save their own skin such as killing a former colleague who was giving evidence to the FBI, planting evidence in the car of DA causing his arrest by the San Fierro Police Department, killing a journalist and reporter investigating their activities and killing a DEA and FBI agent investigating their activities. The arrest of Johnson's brother, Sweet, was also used as leverage against him.

Pendelbury's testimony, alongside evidence and proof from the undercover Hernandez, was later used to arrest Tenpenny and try Pulaski in absentia (as he had already been killed by Johnson after killing Hernandez) for racketeering, corruption, narcotics and sexual assault. The trial, however, is dropped because of a lack of evidence and riots begin across Los Santos' poorer neighbourhoods, although these later subside following the death of Frank Tenpenny.
