I think this is an irrelevant page until GTA V (if that's what it's called) is officially announced. And whoever posted that link (edit: Chip2007), did you read the description? He even says it is GTA SA with some mods. --Aussiebushmatt 17:18, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

You are correct, this page should not exist. I have deleted it until we have SOME information to go on. c:gta:User:Gboyers talk 18:03, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
when i hear definate proof from rockstar i will add it. but considering the time frame of the gta games it wont be soon User:Chip2007
Of course. I presume there will be a few 'GTA IV-era' games before GTA V comes our way. Well, until then! --Aussiebushmatt 18:50, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Looking t the sheer difference in scale btw GTA IV and GTA III, I cant wait to go home to San Andreas. Can you say "GTA-Oblivion"! --Sukhoi35BM

As mentioned earlier, there is no source to prove the title of the next game, and everything that is written in the article.

I do not think it was a new game will begin soon. None of the previous eras occurred in only one city. One could argue about the next game for home consoles, but does not mention a title without sources.

In my opinion this article should be deleted until a trusted source, such as Rockstar, for example.

I agree. This wiki is about facts, not fiction or assumption. -- Master Sima Yi 13:37, April 27, 2010 (UTC
Yeah, I say go ahead and delete it. Interesting factoid about the Episodes from Liberty City booklet, though. --PsychoDuck 01:11, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

well i dont think it should be deleted i think it should be moved to the gta 5 wishlist instead.

GTA uses roman numericals...

Move the page to Grand Theft Auto V. --Insane! 15:48, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

GTA 2 didn't use roman numerals. There's nothing to suggest it would be called five/5/V either - it might just be 'GTA IV London' or 'GTA Vice City 2' or 'GTA London 2012'. At this stage, the number format doesn't really matter, so long as people can find this page and understand what it means. There are some people that will get misread GTA V as GTA IV, or not understand that it means 5. This is just a simpler option until we have something more concrete. Does that work for you? Gboyers talk 17:51, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, understood. --Insane! 23:12, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

Multiplayer?

One of the common if overlooked flaws to the GTA series is the fact that the storyline gameplay is reserved for just 1 player. I'll bet quite a few of us have wished that we could somehow play with two people, possibly in a split-screen manner like a few of the FPS games we know. No, GTA isn't anywhere close to a FPS, physically or style-wise. But what if the entire story was about two protagonists who have some sort of friendship/partnership that gets them through everything together? It would bring a new idea to the whole series that breaks away from the traditional "I need money and I don't care who I kill to get it" or "I do this not because I want to, but because I have to" main characters that have made up the games. If Rockstar can pull that off, it would get a lot of people's attention. Silver Infernus 16:01, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

This page is NOT for suggestions for what GTA V should be. If you want to make suggestions, go to: GTA 5 Wishlist. --Insane! 23:13, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads-up. Silver Infernus 14:29, August 28, 2010 (UTC)

IV Era

I think next GTA game will be in IV Era COOLMAN12234555896 16:26, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

No Vinewood setting

Rockstar Games were in LA to research for LA Noire, therefore Vinewood is probably not the setting. Bellic 4 life

GTA V Will Not Be Niko in SA

I doubt that R* would use the same protagonist. Plus, the plane ticket for Niko just suggests that after everything he went through in Liberty City means he wishes not to stay there, and wants to move to San Andreas instead. --darkye Niko probally will not be in the game but during one of the moments. There is the guy on the motorcycle or whatever its called and he is wearing fingerless gloves. You know who else where fingerless glove Niko.

The Volcano on the Molis Ad

Maybe the volcano is the hint. Maybe it's somewhere that is famous for volcanoes. Also the GTA rendition of real world places are always on islands. so what better than a place that is made of multiple islands. First place that comes to mind is Hawaii. Also Rockstar could reuse a GTA IV era protagonist. even though history says they won't, due to his popularity and because of Roman they might break with tradition and bring Niko back... especially if the Deal ending in GTA IV is canon.--Bafendo 03:02, 15 February 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Twitter user in April 2011

Until that is cited, either from Twitter or GTA Forums, that cannot be posted on this page. MAINEiac4434 19:34, 30 May 2011 (BST)

Can I add this from GTAV.net?

"Take-Two Interactive today revealed their first quarter earnings for fiscal year 2012. Of course, Grand Theft Auto V was not announced, but some interesting points for their future were raised and questioned.

Statements included that they have some unannounced titles for release during the next fiscal year that we will hear about in the "coming months". A particular statement, repeated from the last financial report, was that they expect to exceed a net income of $2 per share in fiscal year 2013 (April 2012 - March 2013).

Following the report, during a Q&A session, an attendee questioned how they expect to reach such a maximum without a GTA release that year. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of T2, evaded the question and diverted his answer to titles they have already announced for release that year such as BioShock Infinite and Borderlands 2.

To put these numbers in perspective, the last time T2 did reach such an income is during the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, in which they recorded $2.08 per share. In comparison, income reached $1.06 per share during the release of Red Dead Redemption and is projected to reach up to $0.35 for the current fiscal year, where LA Noire and Duke Nukem Forever have been their main new titles.

It is safe to say that the statement by T2 encourages shareholders to expect something big, or at least a high earner, during fiscal 2013. While we are not all accountants, the numbers are clear for us to draw out some speculation about a release date, and 2012-2013 has always been plausible amongst the community." Of course I will shorten it so it dosen't fill up the page. --Fairnick68 19:24, 26 August 2011 (BST)

Sure. Although I'd integrate it into the last bullet point, rather than adding all of that above. gboyers talk 20:08, 26 August 2011 (BST)

Okay,I did my best puting it in and shortening it, feel free to make any changes if you need to. I could not fit it into the last bulletin, when I did it looked like a coding error, so I made a bulletin for itself. --Fairnick68 21:39, 26 August 2011 (BST)

Since you put Red Dead as a internal link, should we make a page for it? I remeber there was one a while ago but it got deleted... --Fairnick68 22:15, 26 August 2011 (BST)

I think it's worth having a small page, because the games are related (same publisher, same code). NOT a page about RDR, but a page about the similarities to GTA. Sure. gboyers talk 22:21, 26 August 2011 (BST)

What title should it be? I joined back in 2010 but I never did alot till now so this is all new to me!

Just click the red link on the page and start it there. See other games in Category:Games for an idea. gboyers talk 22:39, 26 August 2011 (BST)

Is it okay if I call it "Similarities between Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV"? If not, could you possibly give me one, im having trouble coming up with one... --Fairnick68 22:55, 26 August 2011 (BST)

Just make the page at Red Dead Redemption, start it off like any other game, like "RDR is a game made by XYZ, released for xbox in XYZ on XYZ." Then you can add another paragraph talking about how it's linked/related to GTA games (same publisher etc, same engine? not sure). You dont have to make it perfect, just start it off and add the {{expand}} tag so other users know to help out. gboyers talk 23:04, 26 August 2011 (BST)

Hey, I need your help! For some reason if I indent my article, it looks like it dose when your editing inside a box. Could you fix it? --Fairnick68 00:55, 27 August 2011 (BST)

Replied here. JFletcherTalk (formerly User:Biggest gta fan ever) 04:21, 27 August 2011 (BST)

Kotaku: GTAV set in Los Angeles, Feature Multiple Protagonists

According to video game blog Kotaku, Grand Theft Auto V will feature multiple protagonists and be set in Los Angeles (or Los Santos).

The piece cites "a source familiar with the game".

link

Yeah, but that's just a prediction, don't add it to the article.--Fairnick68 (talk) 23:28, 26 October 2011 (BST)

A leak from a source is not the same as a prediction. Kotaku's leaks have been right before, which is why this is already in the article. gboyers talk 23:30, 26 October 2011 (BST)

Infobox

Are we going to implement the infobox after the trailer or until we get more information? --TheJustinAllenK (talk)

There's no point having an infobox in the article now, as (officially) we don't know anything except a title, logo and that Rockstar Games appears to be the publisher. We don't officially know anything at all about platforms/consoles, dates, developers, setting/location, engine, rating, protagonist etc. We can only assume it will be made by Rockstar North and be released on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2012. The known facts are not enough for an infobox at the moment (no point taking up 30% of our most useful page with empty spaces or "TBC"). However, in a couple of days we will know a lot more, so I have started to prepare an infobox which we can use in the article as soon as the details are released. gboyers talk 15:51, 30 October 2011 (GMT)

Usage of "br"

Why is there a need to use that tag at the end of every section? The main reason I see to use the tag is if images overlap into other sections, but none of that is happening here.--spaceeinstein 07:36, 3 November 2011 (GMT)

Don't forget that it depends on the width of your browser window. If you have a wider screen, text will take up fewer lines, so images protrude further down and start overlapping into sections. If you have a narrower monitor, text takes up more lines and pushes new sections further down the page. I used BR because we were getting overlaps. Might not be so important now the gallery is in place, though. --gboyers talk 07:40, 3 November 2011 (GMT)

There will be only Los Santos

Rockstar has confirmed that there will be neither San Fierro nor Las Venturas here: http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/19471/grand-theft-auto-v-official-announcement.html please remove the speculation about the whole of San Andreas being in this game. SanNiko (talk) 12:50, 3 November 2011 (GMT) whole of san andreas will be in GTA V, the numplates in the cars is SAN ANDREAS not even LOS SANTOS or SAN FIEERO like in GTA SA

Release date

If you skip to 0.54 on the trailer you can see the numbers 2405. Could this mean that gta 5 will be released on 24th may? Sharpie14 (talk) 19:34, 3 November 2011 (GMT)

Indeed, this has been hinted a lot of times. You can see those 4 numbers a couple of times in the same second, in different spots, but in The Ballad of Gay Tony, 24051972 was precisely shown as a possible easter egg. However, according to wikipedia, Sam Houser is born in 1972. Is 24th May his birthday?--Loadingue (talk) 19:54, 3 November 2011 (GMT)

Misconceptions

If you are refering to the release date discussion, take a look at this (0:53) and this. So yes, I'm pretty sure it has a secret meaning.--Loadingue (talk) 21:18, 3 November 2011 (GMT)
If this ends up to be insignificant, I will look back at this and laugh. So many people in the forums keep saying that the number has a meaning. This problem pops up every time before a release of a game. Back before SA was released, people speculated that the VCN Maverick's tail number was the release date! I'm laughing at that now and I expect to laugh at this in the future.--spaceeinstein 21:39, 3 November 2011 (GMT)
Of course, we don't know if it's the release date or not, but after seeing that number 3 times, it has to have a meaning. Even if the game isn't released on May 24th, we should investigate, and I'd like to know if it's by any chance Sam Houser's birthday.--Loadingue (talk) 22:12, 3 November 2011 (GMT)
No past GTA trailers ever have placed hidden messages, so why start now? Humans naturally seek patterns and interpret them, even if some of the pattern have no significance. The way I see this, you always need to doubt yourself first until there is evidence to support what you think. If you accept an answer before looking at solid evidence (not scant evidence like blurry photos and vaguely phrased words), you will be more likely to be deceived. So far it's just a number (2405) and it's on a curb. First I question myself, do people put numbers on curbs? The answer is yes. For me I would stop right there, because R* never placed messages within the game that need to be deciphered before. They had always been clearly obvious. And a lot of stuff in their games are based on real life. But I look at the forums and so many people say it's a date. Okay, so I look into that. Since this is Los Santos, an American city, the date should be in MM/DD format, not DD/MM. Even the release date of the trailer was in MM/DD/YY format. But ignoring that (which is not what you should be doing when analyzing something), what's the significance of the number if it was a date? Release date? Birthdate? Why would that be on the curb, I question? If it's not a date and has some other significant meaning, why would that also be on a curb? So I look at two possibilities: it has no significance (simple house number on curb) or it is significant (be it a date or some meaning within the game). The way R* makes their games and trailers, I choose the easiest and simplest explanation, the number has no significance. If you think otherwise, so be it, but since there is no evidence to back that up, it would be speculation and not encyclopedic. Usually the simplest explanation is the correct and most complete one. If this was any other game like Assassin's Creed, then the possibility of a random number in a trailer having a significance would make sense, but this is not a puzzle game, it's Grand Theft Auto.
So sorry if this was too long to read, I just wanted to tell you the method of how I think about stuff like this. This is also the way how I think about every other stuff that people put onto this website. I strive to have the most accurate information possible. I hate it when something goes into the speculation and misinformed zone.--spaceeinstein 22:47, 3 November 2011 (GMT)
Well, maybe in a couple of months, I will be laughing at this... From my point of view, the exact same number was seen 3 times in GTA games, almost in a row (The end of The Ballad of Gay Tony, + twice in the next GTA trailer), so again, it must be like the 69 in GTA San Andreas. It has a meaning. But so far, we are unable to tell what it is. But if someone came up and said "Hey, that's Sam Houser's birthday date!" then all problems would be solved.--Loadingue (talk) 23:29, 3 November 2011 (GMT)

Update: The Magnavox Odyssey. The world's first video game console. First demonstrated on May 24, 1972. Thanks Wikipedia and GTAForums (- source). Case closed.--Loadingue (talk) 23:36, 3 November 2011 (GMT)

And by the way, I found another 2405 reference. The song heard in the trailer was also released on May 24, 1968...--Loadingue (talk) 23:42, 3 November 2011 (GMT)
Ok, so you found matching dates, so then why do you think R* would do this? How is the tail of a jet relate to the date of demonstration of a video console, and how is a address number relate to the release month and day (not year) of a music? If you want to close this case, did what you have found really made sense to you? I suspect false connections because I don't see any reason for R* to connect between the games and real life. It makes sense for "69" to be plastered everywhere because it's an obvious adult humor, but this? Reading the V forums is like reading those conspiracy theories (especially on 9/11 where people tried to give significance to the date). So many seemingly interconnecting ideas and information.--spaceeinstein 00:02, 4 November 2011 (GMT)
My first thought was that it was some kind of tribute to video games in general, but it would be funny to know that Rockstar is actually trying to tell us something... Speculations, speculations. I guess we can't do anything more for now. But you still seem to think that's just a random number, but seriously? 4 times now, including one with a year, so it's either a tribute to video games (but why now? is GTA V the last GTA game? unlikely.) or hinting towards something else. Like I said, we can only speculate for now. We will see if we encounter the number again in the future.--Loadingue (talk) 01:52, 4 November 2011 (GMT)

Can I just add a couple of points here?

  • If the game was close enough to completion that Rockstar could offer an exact release date, we probably wouldn't be seeing a first trailer.
  • Are you keeping in mind that what you see in the trailer is directly from the game? The number hasn't been added specifically for the trailer, it would appear in that part of the city in the game. So, why has it been shown in the trailer? Probably one of two reasons:
    • Coincidence - They happened to choose that part of the city to show in the trailer, where the number happened to be.
    • More likely, to show the level of realism/detail in the city, even more than GTA IV.

So, why is it the same number used elsewhere?

  • Coincidence again? It is just some of the the previous number, and I doubt it meant anything the first time. The think about the game console, probably yet another coincidence - It was just a plane number!
  • Well, who really wants to sit around and think of new numbers? It doesn't make any difference to gameplay...

Rockstar aren't going to waste time hiding messages in games and/or trailers, especially where the meaning isn't obvious. The reason being that these need to be analysed for their meaning, and as we can see right here, many theories are made from it, so no one would ever know what the true meaning was. It's just a number. JFletcherTalk (formerly User:Biggest gta fan ever) 03:38, 4 November 2011 (GMT)

Rockstar could waste time hiding messages but R* doesn't have a history to do that would be more accurate. There are developers that do spend a lot of time putting hidden messages into their trailers.--spaceeinstein 03:47, 4 November 2011 (GMT)

Further evidence that humans are pattern-seeking animals, even if the patterns mean nothing at all. To some, the patterns do not even exist at all.--spaceeinstein 04:17, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Weapons in Grand Theft Auto V

Should we add a page of weapons in GTA V due to the fact that we do see a variant of the AK47 in the trailer (Kbs wz. Beryl Commando) and weapons have always been used throughout the series. --TheJustinAllenK (talk) 05:10, 4 November 2011 (GMT)

You could add Weapons in GTA V if you included screenshots of each weapon from the trailer, and saying what real-life weapon they are based on. However do not invent names for them, and do not make pages for the weapons yet. --gboyers talk 05:29, 4 November 2011 (GMT)

Xbox 360 & PS3

Amazon is currently listing and taking pre-orders for GTA V on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Does this confirm the game's platforms or is Amazon just jumping the gun? P.S. I am unable to link to the specific webpages due to the spam filter :\ --Hehe5 (talk) 06:22, 4 November 2011 (GMT)

You could say that it's a possibility and provide links (PS3, Xbox 360), but it's not a confirmation until R* says so themselves.--spaceeinstein 06:35, 4 November 2011 (GMT)

Why was the section "US$ 5 dollar motif" removed?

It was removed because it was being used as a guess for the game/time period. Now we know that it's modern day LA, it's not as relevant. However, it is probably still worth adding it into the "hints" section to explain where the logo came from. --gboyers talk 17:06, 4 November 2011 (GMT)

LSPD Slogan

Is it alright if I add this image, it appears to be a new motto for the Los Santos Police: --TheJustinAllenK (talk) 18:41, 4 November 2011 (GMT)

It's fine to add anything as long as you stick to what you see and not extrapolate from that.--spaceeinstein 19:52, 4 November 2011 (GMT)

A Driver

While doing Frame by Frame shots, I noticed that there was a driver, meaning there is possibly two different people from the man attempting to run away from the cops and the man attempting to drive away from the cops. --TheJustinAllenK (talk) 01:59, 5 November 2011 (GMT)

Analyzing every frame in the trailer

I am extracting every frame in the trailer here. This way we can analyze them in high quality frame-by-frame and have consistent quality if you want to upload some of them onto this site. As of right now just under half of the images are uploaded.--spaceeinstein 03:50, 5 November 2011 (GMT)

Oh this is awesome! Would be even better without the letterbox black bars, but still very useful - good job! gboyers talk 03:58, 5 November 2011 (GMT)
Am I allowed to give this link on gtaforums.com since they're doing analysis on the trailer or should we keep it to ourselves? TheJustinAllenK

You can, but also have a link to this site next to my site. We could get more traffic that way.--spaceeinstein 18:44, 5 November 2011 (GMT)
Seems like someone had already done that here, but those are in JPG rather than PNG.--spaceeinstein 21:10, 5 November 2011 (GMT)

Female cops?

I've noticed that it said female police officers on the GTA V page. Am I mistaken, or did I miss the female cops in the trailer.

Any clarification would be great.

Yes, the page is semi-protected, which means guests and new members can't edit it. Instead, all you get is the 'View Source' button, and clicking that explains the reasons for protection. We do this just to make sure we don't get masses of people spamming the page, making unhelpful edits or causing significant problems, which are much more likely if it's a popular/important page like this. I'll get that edit made now - thanks! gboyers talk 01:18, 7 November 2011 (GMT)
So how did mexico get so close to San Andreas in 20 years? Well San Andreas had some un used mexican peds(from beta) so if you are right than it might be that little village where you met that police girl, i think the village's name was el quebrados near bayside.

Los Puerta?

I noticed that if Los Puerta is in fact San Diego then this might also suggest that another city might be featured but not only any city but a city out the the USA. For non-spanish-speaking users, "Los Puerta" (written incorrectly actually) means the the door or doorway in spanish and in real life San Diego is actually a "Door" to the USA by many Mexican People and so this might suggest the possibiity of Mexico being featured in GTA V like in Red Dead Redemption. Then again It's my theory but I thought I'd just share it with GTA Wiki.

You might be right, but that's a bit of a tenuous link. Anything could be called 'The Doorway' - and the fact that it's a freeway named that (not necessarily a place) probably explains it. It's cool to hear all these theories, but it's not quite enough to go in the article yet! gboyers talk 07:09, 7 November 2011 (GMT)

Just me being curious but

When the game comes out, where are we going to get the images for the missions, characters, etc? I'm only asking this because I believe this is going to be the first time that R* is releasing a major GTA title when we have the GrandTheftWiki website. -TheJustinAllenK (talk) 03:25, 9 November 2011 (GMT)

Actually, Grand Theft Wiki has been around since 2006, so GTA Vice City Stories and GTA IV were our first major releases. Our users provide most of the images on this site - we don't steal them from other websites. They take screenshots, they use fraps to record missions, they write down the transcripts for missions, we also get some screenshots directly from Rockstar to start us off. Yes, it will be our first release since we moved away from Wikia, but that won't make much difference. gboyers talk 11:36, 9 November 2011 (GMT)

Leaked gameplay footage

I just found a video of lighting test footage with gameplay on YouTube (youtube.com/watch?v=eewX3uhCNkQ - spam blocker won't let me post it as a link). It shows a GMC Savana-like van (maybe a Moonbeam?) climbing Mount Chiliad, even including a sign designating it as such. --IanPhoenix (talk) 15:35, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

It's a fake.--spaceeinstein 17:51, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, it doesn't seem too authentic. I guess we're all just a little hopeful for more information on it. The two release possibilities I'm seeing a lot of are April or late October/early November 2012, with more signs pointing to April. But that's all just speculation and anything could happen. --IanPhoenix (talk) 15:07, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

San Fierro / Las Venturas / Other Cities

I have been playing through GTA IV again and I thought of this... What has EVERY major Grand Theft Auto game have in common? More than one City (or Island within the same city), that are separated by water. GTA 3, Three Islands. Vice City, Two Islands. San Andreas, 3 Cities (and their respective counties). LCS and VCS, well, the same as 3 and VC. And GTA IV, 3 Islands.

What else do they all have in common? Each Island/City/District is Blocked off until the player reaches a certain point in the main storyline.

So surely, GTA V must have more than one city, because if the game was just in Los Santos, then how are R* going to stop the player from reaching certain parts of the game world, as Los Angeles is all on the same landmass. It would be very difficult to divide the City into 3 parts, and it's very unlikely that something would happen that would block off every alleyway, road and tunnel into one part of the city, and there isnt going to be a city surrounded with water and then some countryside on another block of land, because Los Angeles only has water on one side.

And then there's also the fact that in the press release, it didn't confirm nor deny the existence of more than one city. And in the trailer, some of the things it shows us are close to 100 miles from the city of Los Angeles in real life.

What does everyone else think, do I have a point, or do you think R* will just have the entire game world accessible from the start?

Clueless93 (talk) 00:55, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

I must admit, you make a good point.--MrLanceVanceDance (talk) 01:30, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

I was actually having a conversation about this last night. Firstly, The official announcement clearly stated that the game is set in Los Santos and surrounding areas - No, that doesn't necessarily deny the existence of other cities, but it is a good indication. The trailer clearly shows bridges, so we can almost confirm that they will be closed at the beginning of the game, that's a way to FORCE us to play the missions. Yes, the whole closed bridges concept is getting tired and predicable, but it's the easiest solution to keeping areas locked.
Los Santos doesn't necessarily need to be as closely modelled after Los Angeles as Liberty City was after New York City in GTA IV, and so separate islands can easily be created in one form or another. Liberty City gained a lot of interest because although being slightly smaller than San Andreas, and being only a single city, it was much more detailed, with little wasted open space. San Andreas was a step forward in the series by offering multiple cities (which came with a larger map size, and more variety in locations), but more modern technology has allowed for a single city to be more detailed than that entire state. If Los Santos is the only city in GTA V, that doesn't mean that it will only be as big as Los Santos in GTA San Andreas, it will be as big (or bigger!) than the entire San Andreas from that game, and much more detailed. Using a single city of that size actually allows Rockstar to be more creative, to better capture that experience in that city (by concentrating on it, rather than split focus between three separate locations), be more realistic (in terms of both the physical city, and the constant travel by the protagonist) and be more detailed. Unless they decide not to block off parts of the city. On the website it says 'A bold new direction in open-world freedom...' so maybe we can explore the whole city without having to do missions. sharpie14 (talk) 19:17, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

GTA V Protagonist

Something that beckons me is when I read the Analysis part, I see that it says the 'protagonist left that line of work' even though its never confirmed the voice is the protagonist. I say this is because with Red Dead Redemption; for their first trailer, we didn't hear Rob Wiethoff; the voice of John Marston. Instead we heard Chuck Kelley; the voice of Bonnie MacFarlane's father. This could mean the 'voice' could actually be just another mission giver. I suggest removing it until more information about the new protagonist is known - here's the video if you need more evidence: TheJustinAllenK (talk)

You're right - we do not know that any particular person is the GTA V Protagonist. Each person in the trailer is just someone seen in the trailer until we know otherwise. Feel free to correct it. gboyers talk 23:58, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

I wonder if its true

A user from facebook states that he has a friend who use to work r* north, and that he got sacked now he(his friend) wants to 'spill the beans'this users rumours make perfect sense, but you can't be too sure. Here is link.I just want to know your remarks on this matter.

It's fake. -TheJustinAllenK (talk) 20:55, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

This is old - it's been around for a few weeks. There is no new or even hugely imaginative information there - it's just one person's guesses. If someone really knew the game was going to leak information, it wouldn't be a detailed description of the wanted level system. That's the sort of things that fans ask for, not the main thing you'd comment on. The fact it has 1 like on Facebook should show you that it's a copy-paste of information from elsewhere on the internet. If there was a pattern of comment across the internet believing something, then we might add ONE bullet point explaining this (such as "A new wanted level system is expected, which could bring back the army for the higher levels...") - but this is not trustworthy so it's not worthy of mention, despite quite a few people believing it. gboyers talk 19:22, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Potential Release Date

Potential Release Date: October 2012 Was spotted on a developer CV, which has since been taken down. Would seem possible considering GTA 3, VC, SA came out in october (or around it), and IV was meant to, but got delayed.

Source: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/343148/gta-v-out-october-says-developer-cv/

Could be a placeholder date, Bioshock infinite is set to relase around the same time and both are ultimately by Take 2.

Clueless93 (talk) 16:46, 10 April 2012 (UTC) Bioshock Infinite was delayed, though. This could mean GTA V will be coming out this October? I hope this is the case. --TheJustinAllenK (talk|edits) 22:20, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

GTA-like Vehicles in Max Payne 3

nevermind, I didn't realize he updated it.

Just pitching in. MP3 seems to be built on top of IV. Many GTA-specific files were carried over from IV with nothing of interest in them, so the vehicle files shouldn't be the exception. The extra vehicles may be IV's and MP3's developmental vehicles, not V's.--spaceeinstein 07:28, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

Protagonist and story

There are names like Albert DelSilvia Chico V. No.--spaceeinstein 21:13, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
Just reading this statement made me somewhat angry. If you actually believe that, you have no faith in the abilities of Rockstar Games. Sounds like something a 12 year old fan would make up in the excitement of waiting for the game. Grand Theft AJ (talk|edits) 01:19, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

Jefferson Motel

At the 1:07 mark in the trailer, the building on the left looks just like the Jefferson Motel. If it is, then the neighbourhood Jeefferson will also be in the game,

The Jefferson Motel did cross over from the 3rd era as evidenced in The Lost and Damned mission Shifting Weight when Malc jokingly states to Johnny Klebitz that they should both get a room together at the Jefferson Motel. And don't forget to sign your name after each post by typing 4 "~'s" together. Make's things a bit clearer when looking through the discussion and whatnot. Grand Theft AJ (talk|edits) 04:23, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

The Police helicopter

The image of the police helicopter does not have any LSPD markings so it shall not be called "A new LSPD helicopter revealed on 12 July 2012" just simply "A new Police helicopter revealed on 12 July 2012"

Yes i know you all belive its only going to be in Los Santos, but please check out San Andreas' first trailer and than say its only in Los Santos, plus what happend to the nearby cityes in the past 20 years? I will make a video soon on my You Tube what you might wanna check out.

The official information (so far) is that GTA V is set in Los Santos only. Whilst that might change, there is no evidence to suggest that yet. So it's safe to assume it's LSPD until we know otherwise. As soon as we see SF/LV or an SAPD-branded vehicle, then we can re-evaluate. gboyers talk 16:51, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
== Why you shall not belive "past rockstar employees" ==

So basically as i know it's against the law to release any information of GTA:V(or any game) after the "employee got fired" and he wants to release the images, videos or such he still has, so its just some random kids creating thease texts and "leaked" images or videos. So if you would like trusted and real information keep in touch with the offical Rockstar News website, or you can also set Rockstar Games website as your homepage since the newest newswire will automatically appear there.

I hope you understood what i meant so the important part is: The texts that starts with "I got a friend/dad/mum/uncle/zombie (whatever) who was working for rockstar games" is fake since they know him and he could easily get in jail if he would release real information after he got fired.

You're absolutely right! I don't know why people believe everything that appears on the Internet. The only thing I'll add is: we can mention the fact that people believe these rumours, and list some of the biggest rumours, but we should never suggest they are true. I'll also add that Grand Theft Wiki has (actual) contacts in Rockstar, and we do take steps to verify some information before we publish it. Things we can't verify generally get removed. gboyers talk 11:57, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

We have contacts in Rockstar? Gtajesus (talk|edits) 17:29, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

Yep. But no, they don't leak anything to us. gboyers talk 17:36, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

police cruiser

the police cruiser is a vapid, and has a san andreas num plate, in GTA V, displaying the Vapid branding, and a number plate from San Andreas.]] If you would have looked on the Police Cruiser page itself, Then you would have already noticed that this information is already stated on the Police Cruiser Page. Is San Fierro in GTA V after all?

File:Helicopter-GTAV.png

Hi everybody! A couple hours ago, Rockstar added a new screenshot for GTA V. It shows a man, with a laserscoped AK-47 shooting a helicopter that looks identical to the Police Maverick shown in a previous screenshot. However, it's really dark, but if you look very closely into the background, you can clearly see that the city looks a lot like/is based on on San Francisco (in my opinion) Could it be San Fierro? Could it be in GTA V after all? Prehaps it could be Los Santos? If you can't see it just click on the screenshot and look in the background.

It could be, but I'm pretty sure it's the Ocean Docks looking at the bridges, cranes and roadways. Too difficult to distinguish the exact buildings from the screenshot. gboyers talk 16:14, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
Maybe, but I just realized that bridge looks like that train bridge from GTA San Andreas. Prehaps it is or isn't San Fierro, I guess we'll just have to wait until either the game is released to see if San Fierro is in or wait and see if Rockstar will post a screenshot of San Fierro. One thing is this though, that screenshot may confirm the AK47 has customization, as you can see a laser is pointing at the helicopter and the persons weapon is an AK47. Yoshiandmario1 (talk|edits) 16:17, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Given that Rockstar said that SA will be 5 times the size of Liberty City and the marketing tricks in the past it could be possible.Gtajesus (talk|edits) 16:53, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

I really don't know what to think on this one. The city in the background looks a lot like San Francisco, but, if you look closely you can see that the bridge isn't large enough to be the golden gate bridge, and it is the same bridge featured in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in Los Santos, (next to Grove Street). However, there is a train bridge like that in San Fierro, but I can't really tell as these look identical in the game. I guess we'll have to wait and see if Rockstar Games will release any San Fierro screenshots. Hopefully Las Venturas is in the game to, as it is my favorite city in any GTA game. Yoshiandmario1 (talk|edits) 18:27, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure Rockstar announced shortly after the release of the trailer, that San Fierro and Las Venturas would not be in GTA V. Can someone find the source?--Loadingue (talk|edits) 18:58, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Laser

The laser is coming from the helicopter, not the gun, so you all know. -TheJustinAllenK (talk|edits) 22:13, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Hmm, pretty sure it's coming from the laser sight attachment just under the barrel of his rifle? You can see a brighter spot where it's emitting. gboyers talk 05:31, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
I thought so too, but you can see that the laser continues past his gun and hits his chest. --Bluesboyjr (talk|edits) 09:46, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Ooooo - well spotted! gboyers talk 15:38, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

the laser may coming from the rifel of a police officer, just like the infernus photo Hyundaifan (talk|edits) 16:46, 24 September 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Nice! I wish I thought of that! Keep up the good work -TheJustinAllenK (talk|edits) 22:12, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Is this news or am I just behind the times?

[1]

Mentions a possible December Game Informer cover story and alleged March 1st, 2013 release date for GTA V. Not totally sure if the site is credible, but thought I'd put it forward for scrutiny. Ghost Leader (talk|edits) 16:35, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

FIB (Michael)

Wouldn't it be better to change the FIB in GTA V (currently a not existing page) link to FIB? FIB page already has a section about GTA V (I added it) so I thought it could be redirected there. As far as I know, there is not an article about FIB in GTA IV and nor is in any other games. ♦PanPirat♦ 19:34, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
