Manufacturer

Is there any in-game evidence that the police cruiser is manufactured by Vapid? Biggest GTA Fan EverTalk 05:41, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

I think the maker's badge is on the right side of the boot, next to the license plate. I'll do a quick search and take pictures today. -Gman harmon 16:09, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Yes, the Vapid mark is on the boot lid, to the right and over the license plate. I have a high-resolution photo if needed. -Gman harmon 21:24, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
I think it would be a good idea to use the photo as a reference. Upload it please and we will find a way to use it, maybe just by linking to it. And thanks for the comfirmation! Biggest GTA Fan EverTalk 22:58, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Who is the Police Cruiser Based off?

In the GTA IV game the police cruiser, is not moddelled off any vehicle i have seen in the game, is it based of the merit because they make the Police Patrol vehicle. Which vehicle is this vehicle based off?. GSF4L 19:40, 14 July 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I don't get your logic, anyways, the Police Cruiser/NOOSE Cruiser/Vapid Taxi are based on the same combination of Crown Victorias, The Merit is mostly Impala based and has nothing to do with these vehicles. So this Crown Vic knockoff has no version driven by regular pedestrians, therefore we don't know the name of it.--Thescarydude 19:21, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

I would say that the police cruiser is a police patrol but made faster so it has removed some pf its body kit, though the police cruiser looks older GSF4L 20:27, 14 July 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It looks Nothing like the Police Patrol (besides the blue and white). Besides that, it is made by Vapid while the Police Patrol is made by Declasse.--Thescarydude 19:29, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Yes i do know that the patrol has a spoiler and looks like a taxi, but i think it looks the same though they are made by different companies GSF4L 20:42, 14 July 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I do not understand, can you not see the obvious differences between the two models? The body kit thing is a very irrational theory, that's like saying a Ferrari 360 is just a Chevrolet Corvette C6 with a bodykit, you can't just transform a car like that. And there are two taxis you know... I think you haven't really looked at the cars. I'm not gonna keep arguing now.--Thescarydude 23:13, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Question

That's an really good table. Is that a template or table?--GTA Lover 22:34, 31 July 2009 (UTC)GTA Lover

policew (tbogt)

the main page describes a "policew" i dont doubt it exists but someone should provide a picture on the main page or at least one here in the talk section, i would be quite interested to see it(im guessing others would too)--Bustago 12:08, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

Here it is.--Spaceeinstein 20:00, July 25, 2010 (UTC)

More on the "policew"

I think the "policew" should have its own page, its very different from the actual Police Crusier and has its own special properties. Does anyone else think its a good idea? Alejandro (talk) 20:10, 24 December 2011 (UTC)

Doesn't seem like a good idea. Both cars are still closely related by both their base design as well as their names; splitting will simply result in needless fragmentation. Same deal as the open bed Yankee in TLAD and the "Lure" Rancher in GTA San Andreas. In fact the Police Buffalo article is ripe for merging back here since it's supposed to be a "Police Cruiser". - ZS (talk|edits) 21:36, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

GTA V

I'm not exactly fond of putting information on that car here, since we don't know its name yet. Yes, there is a possibility it's actually a redressed Police Cruiser (since it was used as a early placeholder), but I'll rather be cautious about it and have this information developed elsewhere (i.e. a sandbox) until its name is confirmed in some way. - ZS (talk|edits) 21:39, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

I'm taking the liberty of moving the relevant content here so it can be developed here until it finds a proper article to settle in:
The cruiser this time around is generally based on the 1998-2011 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, while the front of the car is based on a 1994-1996 Chevrolet Impala. The brake lights are similar to that of a Crown Victoria, but the reverse lights have been merged with the brake lights. The rear roof pillars are unlike any Ford Crown Victoria or Chevrolet Impala. The front grille appears to resemble a 1991-1996 Chevrolet Caprice, more so than the 1994-1996 Impala, due to the chrome, rather than the Impala's solid black grille. There is also Sheriff's version of the police cruiser in GTA V, as seen in a new screenshot. This version is mostly identical to the LSPD version, but has a white paint job, and Sheriff markings on the car.

Agreed - it's obvious that it is a Police Car but not apparent whether it will be a Police Cruiser or not. Keep it at Police Car until we have a specific designation for it. gboyers talk 23:52, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Sounds good. I should have put it on the talk page before adding that, my bad. I'm also wondering what vehicle they got those pillars from, as they sure aren't based on the Crown Vic or Caprice/Impala. The back pillars are very thick, and are in a / \ position. Other than that, it takes qualities from all three vehicles. R* don't usually add their own designs, or do they? I just want to know this, that way we know if it's correct to put "the pillars are not based on any vehicle" in the article. Other than that, once we get a picture where the "Police Cruiser" badge is on the police car, I guess we could call it that in the article. But for some reason, since Ford never changed the "Police Interceptor" name on their 1998 redesign (the last year they updated the exterior), I think it would be recreationally correct for R* to have the Vapid retain the "Police Cruiser" nameplate. --Original Light (talk) 22:29, 15 November 2012 (UTC)

We should not forget about the two different designs spotted with this car: the one shown in the pics on the current Police Car page, and the one, more modern, shown on the pics here. Since that first design was only seen in the first trailer over a year ago, and hasn't appeared since, I think those two designs are the one and same car. That is supported by the fact that they are both based on Ford Crown Victorias, but it would certainly seem weird to have retained the GTA IV design, reminiscent of the 1990's, in a game set in 2012 or 2013. Just my 2 cents. In short: we should assume the design shown in the first trailer has been permanently replaced with the one above.--Loadingue (talk|edits) 22:43, 15 November 2012 (UTC)

That's what I was thinking. The one from the first trailer was just a temporary placeholder, until they had more time to remodel the vehicles. --Original Light (talk) 23:00, 15 November 2012 (UTC)

You can't be sure that it's not based on any vehicle at all - do you know the pillar configurations of every car ever? At the most you could say "It's not clear which vehicle the pillars are based on" but I don't think that is useful information. The better thing to do in this situation would be to find some users that know lots about vehicles and police cars (check the history) and ask them directly on their talk page. Someone is bound to figure it out! Also, the two different models seen in the two trailers might be two different vehicles (like the different LSPD/SFPD/LVPD variants). gboyers talk 23:39, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
I've considered the fact they might be different vehicles, but for the reasons I mentioned above, I think that possibility is very remote. We should assume they are the same vehicle. I don't think we'll ever see the old GTA IV-like model in any future footage, or the game itself.--Loadingue (talk|edits) 13:49, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
