If you think it's worth splitting these - so that races/sports/challenges are completely separate to jobs/missions/tasks, then that's doable. But we need to find a clear, obvious, real distinction between them, not an arbitrary line that visitors could misunderstand. Just like we separate storyline Missions and Collectibles from Side Missions - the divide is obvious. So far, I personally think it's safer to pack them all together under Side Missions, and within that we can specify what type of Side Mission it is (race, vehicle mission etc). I think that 'side missions' is the better term, so people wont be confused. And i have never heard anybody refer to them as 'odd jobs' before, so to me it would seem illogical to refer them as that or split up side missions into separate pages.--Raggi Boy 10:28, 18 September 2011 (BST)

This is the only time I've ever heard side missions referred to as "odd jobs". Most pages still refer to and link to "Side Missions". But almost all of these are Vehicle Missions. Should we merge or rename one way or the other? gboyers talk 06:59, 18 August 2011 (BST)

Side Missions are referred to as "Odd Jobs" on the GTA Chinatown Wars GPS, but I agree on moving this page to Side Missions (and on merging Vehicle Missions with this) as that term is the most common. --Bluesboyjr 18:23, 20 August 2011 (BST)
No game (can't check IV yet) ever called these types of missions "side missions." The PC controls defined the key for the PS2's R3 missions as Sub-mission. "Odd job" is used a few times in some of the games. I'm not sure what the official game guides says about this.--spaceeinstein 07:20, 18 September 2011 (BST)

True, and happy to continue to discuss this. At the moment, we use "Side Missions" throughout this wiki a lot more than "Odd Jobs" or "Sub Missions". We need a term that accurately encompasses everything on this page - not just parts of it. This page will cover ALL non-storyline missions/tasks/quests (maybe excluding individual games/races). I believe "Sub-mission" refers only to R3 vehicle missions (vigilante, taxi, paramedic etc), which doesn't include races and other side-missions. Not 100% sure about Odd Jobs but that doesn't seem to be a good name for things like Stadium Events and races. If we can't find an official term that encompasses all of these things, then I'd suggest Side Missions to be the best thing to use. I doubt "Characters", "Vehicles" and "Modifications" are official designations found from in-game language files, but they're sensible/obvious terms to use.

So far, I personally think it's safer to pack them all together under Side Missions, and within that we can specify what type of Side Mission it is (race, vehicle mission etc). gboyers talk 08:22, 18 September 2011 (BST)
