Tarbrush Café's logo

The Tarbrush Café, also called Tarbrush Coffee in Grand Theft Auto III, is a coffee/café chain in the GTA III Era and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The chain is based on Starbucks Coffee. In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, it plays a prominent role in two Vercetti Estate Asset missions: Shakedown and Cop Land. A Katana spawns in the office of the Tarbrush Café although it is no longer avaliable after the events of Cop Land.

Roles in Missions

The North Point Mall's Tarbrush Café store in GTA Vice City.
The wreckage of the Tarbrush Café after the completion of Cop Land.

In Shakedown, Tommy Vercetti goes to the North Point Mall and destroys the windows of five stores in order to intimidate the shops and their owners into paying protection money to the Vercetti Gang, as they refused to pay their protection money as soon as they found out that Ricardo Diaz and his massive drug empire and protection ring was overthrown by Tommy Vercetti and Lance Vance, with the Tarbrush Café being one of the stores in which its windows got damaged. However, their refusal to pay the mnoney led to their store's destruction.

In the mission Cop Land in GTA Vice City, Tommy Vercetti sends Mike to blow up the café, as it failed to pay protection money, only to find out from an argument between Mike and Lance Vance that Mike had screwed up the wiring and as a result, turned the North Point Mall into a cop land. He and Lance then attract police attention, lure two cops into a garage in Vice Point, knocks out the two cops, steals their uniforms and blow up the café themselves in the North Point Mall. Despite attracting heavy police attention, the pair make it back safely to the Vercetti Estate Starfish Island. After the completion of the mission, the café will no longer be accessable although it can still be entered by the use of glitches, mods and trainers.

GTA San Andreas

The Tarbrush Café probably still exists in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, as you can see coffee cups with the logo of Tarbrush Café outside restraunts and Cluckin' Bell stores.

GTA Vice City Stories

In Vice City Stories, the Tarbrush Café doesn't exist. The unit at the mall where their store once stood had been converted to a men's clothing store called T&A Men.

GTA IV Era

In Grand Theft Auto IV, parasols outside an unnamed coffee shop in Westdyke, Alderney bear the Tarbrush name and logo.

Trivia

  • The Tarbrush Café is the only accessible small store in GTA Vice City which doesn't need to be robbed. In fact, it cannot be robbed, as there is no clerk.
  • The café also appears in Rockstar North's Manhunt.
