Trevor Philips is one of the three protagonists in Grand Theft Auto V. He is in his early 40s. He is originally from a rural Midwestern Canadian border town called Ludendorff, North Yankton.

Based in the town of Sandy Shores in Blaine County, Trevor is the head of Trevor Philips Enterprises (sometimes called Trevor Philips Industries). His friends Ron Jakowski, Wade Hebert, and a man called "Chef" help him run the company.

History

Trevor was a pilot, and signed up for the air force hoping to "drop the nuke", but was "grounded for life" because of his instability. He is still a skilled pilot. He is also known to have played hockey, being thrown off the team after shoving a stick up his coach's rectum.

After being cut from the military, Trevor met Michael Townley who persuaded him to rob people. The two began to work together in various heists and drug smuggling runs. After Michael's marriage, Trevor began working with Bradley Snider. During a bank heist, an unnamed getaway driver was killed, Michael was presumably killed, Brad was arrested, and Trevor escaped.

Trevor is also increasingly emotionally unstable and a sociopath, suffering from drug and alcohol addiction and possibly depression. During most of his Rampages, he takes particular offense to being called a motherfucker (which he takes literally) or if someone insults his Canadian heritage.

If Trevor is alive at the end of the game, he can reunite with his mother in the Strangers & Freaks mission "Mrs. Philips". She has been disappointed in Trevor all his life, and he is desperate to earn her respect. She sends him out to steal a van full of Deludemol medication, but abandons his trailer before he returns.

Trivia

  • Trevor has a tattoo on his neck that consists of a dotted line and an instruction stating "Cut here" in the center of his neck.
  • Unlike Michael and Franklin, Trevor did not appear in the first GTA V trailer.
  • Trevor is the first protagonist to willfully use drugs in their respective game.
  • Trevor was the first protagonist of GTA V to have his full name revealed.
  • Trevor mentions that he grew up in Canada near the United States border, although his actual place of birth is disputed. Trevor's voice actor, Steven Ogg, is Canadian.
  • Trevor is the first protagonist in the whole GTA series who can successfully kill another protagonist from the previous game.
  • In the European version of the game, when switching to Trevor he will sometimes be on top of a mountain wearing nothing but a dress. He will not be wearing underwear and you can see his penis. This is the only known way to get Trevor to go commando.
