"Turismo" is a racing mission in Grand Theft Auto III given to protagonist Claude by Diablos leader El Burro from a payphone in the Hepburn Heights area of Portland, Liberty City. The mission becomes available after completing "Van Heist" for Joey Leone. If the player has completed "Big'n'Veiny" prior, this mission becomes the only repeatable mission the player will received from El Burro.
El Burro, the leader of the Diablos, introduces himself to Claude via payphone, stating that Claude is eligible to work for him as Claude's reputation in Liberty City's criminal underworld is steadily building. To further proof his worth to El Burro, Claude is required to win in a street race that is about to take place in Chinatown, near the Callahan Bridge.
The race is a straightforward lapped rally around various parts of Portland against three Diablo competitors driving Cheetahs. With advice to obtain a fast car, the player must reach their starting position with an appropriate vehicle, run through each marked checkpoints, and finish the race in first place to successfully complete the mission.
- Its recommended to complete this race before completing "Sayonara Salvatore", as after completing that mission, Leone Family members are all armed with shotguns, and shoot Claude in sight. The shotguns will blow up most vehicles in seconds, making this mission hard to complete.
- The player can alternately begin the race by ramming any of the competitors at the starting line, resulting in a rushed start and disoriented competitors that the player can take advantage of to immediately lead in the race. This feature is carried over to many races in later games.
- The competing Cheetahs in the mission are bulletproof, explosion proof and fireproof, making them very hardy and useful when venturing into hostile gang territory. Obtaining any of Cheetah however is considerably difficult, requiring that the player flip the car during the race and pushing it into the nearest garage using a heavy vehicle. One effective tactic is to direct a flipping Cheetah into the yard of the Portland hideout using a long and heavy vehicle like a Coach, making the job of flipping and pushing any Cheetah in far easier.
