Wrong Side of the Tracks is a mission in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas given to protagonist Carl "CJ" Johnson by secondary antagonist and high-ranking Grove Street Families member Melvin "Big Smoke" Harris, under inspiration from the primarily antagonistic C.R.A.S.H. team, from his house in Idlewood, Los Santos.

Burning Desire is a mission in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas given to protagonist Carl "CJ" Johnson by the primary antagonistic C.R.A.S.H. team, comprising officers Frank Tenpenny, Edward "Eddie" Pulaski and Jimmy Hernandez, from the Jim's Sticky Ring donut shop in Market, Los Santos, San Andreas.
Mission
Carl visits Smoke after some time, where again, C.R.A.S.H. officers Frank Tenpenny and Eddie Pulaski are seen leaving the house, this time from the garage, where Smoke is also seen. Carl has a brief argument with the two and then turns to Smoke, who asks him for help to drive him to Unity Station.
Mission
Carl enters the donut shop and is spotted by Tenpenny, who tells him to come and sit with them. Tenpenny and Pulaski act with hostility towards Carl, with Tenpenny reminding him that C.R.A.S.H. owns him. Tenpenny then informs Carl of a 'gangbanging, drug-pushing, cop-killing bitch', holed up in a building in East Los Santos, who doesn't like them. Tenpenny tells Carl that he wants the gangster dead.

Carl first heads to an alleyway in Downtown Los Santos to collect some Molotov Cocktails that C.R.A.S.H. had left, before heading over to the building in East Los Santos. Carl kills the Los Santos Vagos gangsters surrounding the building and then throws molotov cocktails into five windows around the building. The 'holed up' man, a member of the Los Santos Vagos, runs out of the building, on fire, and dies.

Carl then notices a woman trapped inside - to save her, Carl enters the building and gets to the upstairs bedroom she is in. Then, using a fire extinguisher he got, he puts out fires blocking their way, helping the woman escape the building. The woman graciously thanks Carl, and asks him to bring her to her house. Once there, she introduces herself as Denise Robinson, and both of them agree to meet some time later.

Script
Tenpenny: HEY! CARL JOHNSON! CJ!

CJ: (to himself as he enters) Oh, shit...

Tenpenny: Come on over here, son! (to Hernandez as Carl arrives) Move over, let him sit down, asshole! (when Carl sits) So you finally found time to drop by.

CJ: Man, I've been busy. I've been burying my moms, man.

Pulaski: Sounds like a fucking excuse to me.

Tenpenny: Officer Pulaski thinks you're trying to screw with us, Carl. Now you get this straight. We own you. You're ours. We can shit on you from such a height you'll think God himself has crapped on you. You understand?
Once there, Carl and Smoke proceed, on the latter's instructions, to witness a meeting between the Los Santos Vagos and the San Fierro Rifa. Feeling cheated as the meeting gets over, Smoke asks Carl to help him chase and cap down the Vagos, which they do with the help of a Sanchez parked nearby. Finally, they manage to kill the Vagos, and Carl drives Smoke back to Idlewood, wherein, on the way back, they have a conversation about the drug problem in the city.

Eddie Pulaski: He better fucking understand.
Script
(Carl is outside Smoke's house. Tenpenny and Pulaski come out of Smoke's garage with Smoke still inside it as they greet Carl.)

Tenpenny: Hey, Carl, keeping busy, I hope.

CJ: You know me, Officer Tenpenny.

Tenpenny: Yeah, I know you, Carl. I know everything about you.

CJ:  Don't touch me. (murmurs) Get you pig hands off me...

Tenpenny: That's right, Carl, I got my eye on you.

CJ: And? Like I give a fuck.

Pulaski: We're watching you, Carl! (throws his cigarette at Carl.)

CJ: Mother-fucker!

Tenpenny: Yeah, he better had. Time to go to work, CJ, and earn your freedom. (Carl stands up) There's a guy holed up across town. You got that address, Pulaski? (Eddie pulls a slip out) Another gangbanging, drug-pushing, cop-killing bitch, just like you. We don't like him and he don't like us. Now you make sure he never leaves the neighborhood - not even in a box. Now get the fuck outta here!
(Tenpenny and Pulaski leave. Smoke comes out of his garage.)

(Carl leaves for the house and torches the building. Suddenly, a woman goes screaming, apparently in danger, trapped on the building's first floor.)
Big Smoke: What was that all about, baby?

CJ: You tell me.

Big Smoke: Aw hell, man, they got their nose in everything. Can't shit without Tenpenny taking an interest. The hell with him.

CJ: Yeah, I guess. What's really up?

Big Smoke: Hey, thinking of taking a little ride. Three deep mentioned a little something that might put us deeper in the game.

CJ: A'ight, I'm down. (they get in the car) Where to, Smoke?

Denise: Oh God, I'm so scared!

Denise: OH-MY-GOD, what was that?
Big Smoke: Some Vagos cats meeting some San Fierro Rifa, cutting some kind of deal.

CJ: San Fierro? I thought Northern Mexicans don't mix with Los Santos eses.

Big Smoke: Shit, you got me.

CJ: Hey, the building's starting to collapse, we gotta get out of here, fast!
CJ: That look like them!

Big Smoke: We got to get these fools! (they start chasing the Vagos on a Sanchez) C'mon CJ, we gotta ice these fools. Roll up on them, CJ, so I can get a shot! (if they proceed past the railway crossing in Jefferson) Aww, look, the train! (after crossing through the tunnel, if needed) Take that path on the right!

CJ: Gimmie a second girl, don't panic!
(Smoke manages to kill the Vagos. They now head back to his house.)

(Carl and Denise continue to work their way through the house in an attempt to escape.)
CJ: Was it always like this?

CJ: Hold on, we're nearly there!
Big Smoke: Was what always like this?

(Carl and Denise work their way through the rest of the house and escape.)
CJ: Always fucked up around here? Or is it because of the drugs?

Denise: Hey, man, I owe you my life... (kisses Carl) I was nearly dead there, for sure!
Big Smoke: Ae, ae, don't ask a wise man, friend, ask a fool!

CJ: Hey, you look pretty shook up, girl, you want me to take you home?
CJ: That's what I was doing.

Denise: Yeah, please, thanks.
Big Smoke: Well, if you making this thing personal, I ain't sticking on it no more.

(They get inside a vehicle.)
(Carl and Smoke are outside Smoke's house.)

CJ: Where you live?
Big Smoke: Hey, you better clear out, CJ. I don't want those C.R.A.S.H. fools trying to pull you into some shit!

CJ: Alright, homie. You be careful with those cats. I'm gonna see you later.

Reward
The reward for this mission is respect, and the mission Just Business is unlocked.

Denise: Just off Grove Street.
Walkthrough Tip
CJ: No shit! What you doing in Vagos 'hood?
Make your way to Unity Station with Smoke. When you get there, some Los Santos Vagos members will hop on the top of the train as it rides off. Quickly, jump on the Sanchez provided for you. Chase the train and ride up next to it and Smoke will start to shoot the gang members. Make sure all the gang members are killed before they reach the Frederick Bridge. After they are all dead, drive Smoke back to Los Santos and the mission will be complete.

Denise: I like to live dangerously. You're CJ, right?

CJ: Yeah, how you know me?

Denise: Everybody in the Grove knows you and your brother, but I thought you'd run away.

CJ: I never 'ran away' OK, I just needed to... get away from shit.

(They are near the girl's house in Ganton.)

Denise: This is my place, here!

(They arrive outside the house.)

CJ: Hey, what's your name?

Denise: Denise, Denise Robinson. Give me a call sometime, we should go out, or something.

CJ: Yeah, I'd like that.

Denise: (exits the car and waves to Carl) OK, I'll catch you later, CJ.

Reward
There is no monetary reward for completing the mission, although the player can collect some money inside the house. The mission Doberman is unlocked after a phone call from Sweet, given that the mission Cesar Vialpando is completed, while the mission Gray Imports is also unlocked. Carl also gains some molotov cocktails and a fire extinguisher, whilst Denise becomes Carl's girlfriend.

Trivia
Trivia
* The building cannot be re-entered after the end of the mission, except when using the Hidden Interiors Universe.
* In the beta, the mission was supposedly to grab a package after the Los Santos Vagos are killed but it was cut before release. The same way, the beat had dialogue about Carl questioning Smoke over the package, which would have almost exposed his betrayal.
* The interior of the building shows damage after the end of the mission, although the exterior looks the same.
* Oddly, in the mission Local Liquor Store, Carl complains about Catalina shooting so close to his ear, but he doesn't do it to Smoke, presumably as he is closer to Smoke and the fact that Smoke generally aims the gun higher, limiting the noise.
* There is a wad of $50 in Denise's room that can be picked up, on the table next to her.
* The name of the mission may be based on the phrase "the wrong side of the tracks", meaning a poor area of a city.
* This mission is one of three to not work correctly if too many cheats are used, the other two being Photo Opportunity and Madd Dogg. At the end of the mission, Denise will not move anywhere near the door of her home during the end cutscene, and will instead roam around the areas shown onscreen and eventually leave the screen completely, making the cutscene endless and the game unplayable without reloading a previous save. Using over 100 cheats before or during the mission will trigger this effect.
* If the player abandons the Sanchez after killing the Vagos, it will still appear in the mission's final cutscene.
* The player has an unlimited supply of the fire extinguisher and can actually put out all the fires inside the house. However, if the player goes outside then back inside, the interior will be burning again.
* This mission is infamous among gamers for being extremely difficult. Smoke's mission failure line "All we had to do was follow the damn train, CJ!" has become a bit of an Internet meme as a result. In the popular video game Minecraft exists a splash screen which says "Follow the train, CJ!".
