For previous discussions, please see Archive 1, Archive 2 and Archive 3.

I will usually reply to any posts on your own talk page so that you get an email. You may reply back here, or over there, I will get emails either way. However to start a new discussion, you MUST come back to me. (I will however reply here to messages by Gboyers).

Also please note that another user may answer your question before I do, and they may answer on this page. So if you don't get a reply, it might be a good idea to check back here, because after another user replies, I won't unless I have additional information or opinion (and if the other user replies here, so will I).

Promotion to Manager

Congratulations, you have finally been promoted to Manager! You have recently shown an interest in, and aptitude for, the inner workings and strategy of this wiki, and I think it's time you took the lead on a few more issues. The role of Manager has recently changed slightly: it is now a lead administrator, looking after the team, being a point-of-contact for users and staff, figuring out what works needs to be done, inspiring users to contribute, and leading discussions on policy/strategy. It is not about decision-making, it's about leadership, organisation, and project and resource management - but it's still a step beyond the administrator role. I'd like to see you leading some cleanups, reviewing old templates/infoboxes, cleaning up the project namespace, and inspiring users to do more. Good luck! Gboyers 12:03, 28 October 2010 (BST)

Just to add my congratulations on the promotion! A-Dust 13:46, 28 October 2010 (BST)

Game names in articles

Regarding this. My policy actually is that in sentences, you should use the short form (GTA San Andreas). Same with article titles (except for the games themselves) and categories. I really hate sentences like on Cheetah: "The Cheetah is a two-door sports car that has appeared in Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories" - these should be changed to use short-form game names. Gboyers 08:56, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Makes sense to me (hence I made that edit), but the part of the policy that I was referring to was the following from the consistency policy:
In articles, the game's name should be shown in full once. After that, an abbreviated version can be used without a colon.
It was obvious to me that what the original editor was doing (with in GTA San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, (etc)) was using short form for GTA SA due to it already having been mentioned, and long form for LCS due to it not having already been mentioned, and I changed it to all use short form to make it easier to read (like you say). JFletcherTalk (formerly User:Biggest gta fan ever) 09:12, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sorry I'd forgotten about that - yes that policy is right to an extent. If you mention one game in the first sentence, use the long form. (IE the XYZ is a car in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas). If you need a list, use the short form. If you repeat a game's name, use the short form. I would like the words "Grand Theft Auto" to appear on every page, but I don't want articles to be clogged up with it 30x. Gboyers 09:16, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

That actually clears up something that I've been thinking about for quite a while (such as the articles like Cheetah, and cases like the edit you linked to). Thanks for that! JFletcherTalk (formerly User:Biggest gta fan ever) 09:21, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I rewrote the consistency policy to be clearer on this, but that needs merging with Grand Theft Wiki:Style Guide at some point. Gboyers 19:41, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Re:Disabling WikiEd toolboxes

Ah, thanks for pointing that out. I was wondering what that icon was meant for. - ZS 10:16, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Staff Roles

Hi, could you please fill out your section of the table at Grand Theft Wiki:Staff/Roles? That page explains the reasons, but we're just trying to assign staff some responsibility and ownership of their own sections, and give you a bit more room to do what you want to do. Thanks - Gboyers 00:37, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

if you own

a PS3 can't you play your old GTA game's on it

Becoming Inspector of the Wiki

I applied to become promoted to Inspector or Administrator of the Grand Theft Wiki. When does the actual "election" take place? Because I would love to become the inspector and help out the wiki! :)

Leaving Wikia Help

Hey man, exactly like you guys, habbo.wikia.com is likely departing Wikia. Is there any chance I can ask how you copied over your content? Btw can you recommend a wikifarm or a host? Thank you! -Imdill3 00:23, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Thank you very much! lol yeah, the final straw was when Wikia made that 'purchase an ad' thing on the bottom of every article. It makes it look like it's apart of the article. Seems on Runescape Wiki, they're only used for scam/hacking sites and rival wikis O_o. Anyways, thanks again- after this project I will be proudly editing again for GTW. -Imdill3 14:27, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Page renaming

I am interested in getting the page OFLC renamed to Australian Classifacation Board because that is now the official name of Australia's OFLC. How would I go about this? Klltr 08:17, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Simply use the {{move}} template so that the staff can move it for you.--spaceeinstein 09:28, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

What?

What's your problem bro? Why are you telling me to grow-up? I didn't even do anything? Grand Theft AJ 04:16, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

I received an e-mail that a page I created the talk for Ultimate Disk in the Dark was deleted and a message with you stating "Grow up kid? Really?" or something along those lines. But I don't recall writing anything that would earn that type of response. Also I can't see what I said because the page was deleted and there is no History. Was this directed at sometihng I had typed or was there another addition to the page that I wasn't informed about via e-mail? Grand Theft AJ 04:46, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
Haha, no no, I'm the one who was misunderstood. Thanks for clearing that up, I was just a little confused at first. Grand Theft AJ 05:48, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi

Wikia has been receiving reports from your wiki that a user has been copying stuff from this wiki and adding them on GTA wiki without attribution could you confirm this--Owen1983 23:29, 27 May 2011 (BST)

Copying

wikia has dealt with the user and revoked his admin right I to find his behavior unacceptable failure to supply attribution breaks your policy and fails to recognize your community which is damn right rude---Owen1983 13:31, 28 May 2011 (BST)

Re:Locked Page

Hmm, I could have sworn it was a "view source" page when I tried to click "Edit" last time. Might have misread it. Thanks for pointing that out though. Any particular reason the "edit" buttons are missing? Silver Infernus 15:47, 4 July 2011 (BST)

What the hell

Are you doing reverting me when I'm right? McJeff 17:12, 12 July 2011 (BST)

Delete

Hey JFletcher, can you do me a favour and delete Cheap Car Insurance - How to Get Cheaper Car Insurance Quotes. That article is spam and serves no good use to Grand Theft Wiki. I put a spam tag on it ages ago but it still hasn't been deleted.--MrLanceVanceDance 11:17, 19 July 2011 (BST)

Never mind. A-Dust has deleted the article.--MrLanceVanceDance 12:09, 19 July 2011 (BST)

PS3

Hello, I notice you have a PS3 and I would like to say that it's cool that you have have one.--Mizu (talk) 18:06, 30 July 2011 (BST)
