[[Vapid]] is an American automotive company in [[Grand Theft Auto IV]] and [[Grand Theft Auto V]]. It is primarily based on [[wp:Ford Motor Company|Ford Motor Company]], although some of its models resemble some of those made by Chevrolet, Dodge, Land Rover, and even the International Harvester/Navistar International. In parody of Ford's famous blue oval badge, Vapid's logo is a red oval. The word 'vapid' means 'dull' but also sounds similar to 'rapid,' a possible motivation for the use of the name. Vapid is one of the biggest car manufacturers in [[Grand Theft Auto IV]], along with [[Declasse]].

The PlayStation 3 uses a proprietary CPU co-developed by Sony, Toshiba, and IBM called the [[wp:Cell (microprocessor)|Cell Broadband Engine]]. The GPU uses an Nvidia-based chipset called the "RSX Reality Synthesizer". The PS3's system memory was split into two pools of 256MB each, with one pool going to CPU and the other to the GPU; the split memory made programming for the PS3 more difficult compared to the technically inferior [[Xbox 360]], especially when creating multi-platform ports.


Vapid signage can be seen in the background of a pre-release screenshot for [[Grand Theft Auto V]]. This indicates the possibility of a Vapid dealership in the game. Additionally, a new Vapid-branded police car and a heavy duty crew cab pickup truck are slated to appear in Grand Theft Auto V.
Unlike the PlayStation 2, whose online services were supported by the individual game publishers and developers for each online capable game, online services for the PlayStation 3 were unified under the [[wp:PlayStation Network|PlayStation Network]], which launched concurrently with the console. Unlike Xbox Live, which requires a paid subscription, online gaming for the PS3 is free on the PlayStation Network; however, Sony launched a paid tier, PlayStation Plus, in 2010 and offers certain benefits such as free games, store discounts, and cloud backups of game saves.
