GTA Advace has a nice variety of weapons that take aspects from two games; the first being Grand Theft Auto: 1, and the other being Grand Theft Auto: 3. Since the Nintendo Game Boy Advace could only support minimal low quality graphics, the top view returned from the older series GTA1. Since the GBA could support still images in a good way the picture indicator for the current gun being held came back from GTA3. Another point is that since there is no 3rd person aiming in this game; it lacks a sniper rifle. Since there is only one of each type of weapon (1 pistol, 1 smg, etc.) the player can carry all types of weapons at the same time.

The weapons in Grand Theft Auto Advance take inspiration from both Grand Theft Auto 1 and Grand Theft Auto III. Since the Game Boy Advance could only support minimal low quality graphics, the top view returned from the pre-GTA III games; however, the GBA could support still images well enough for the HUD indicator for the player's current weapon to return from GTA III. Another point is that since there is no third person aiming in this game; it lacks a sniper rifle. Also note that unlike other post-GTA III games, there are no weapon slots, so the player can hold all weapons at once. A description of each weapon can be found in the game's instruction manual. The player can switch between weapons while inside a vehicle (being the only way to use the Car Bomb), making this the only GTA until Grand Theft Auto IV to allow the player to do so.
