The West River is a river in Grand Theft Auto IV located between Alderney & Algonquin. Geographically, it is based on The Hudson River, although the river's name derives from the East River, which runs along the Eastern coast of Manhattan, separating it from Long Island.
The East River's geographical in-game parody is the Humboldt River, which is situated, as is the East River, along the eastern coast of Algonquin. Although the name of the Humboldt River is actually based on the name of the Hudson River.
