Whippet Express Coach is a coach company based in Vice City in 1986 and Liberty City from 1998 to 2001.

Description

Whippet Express Coach is one of the eight coach companies in the Grand Theft Auto series and one of the three coach companies that operate in Vice City. Judging by the name of the company, it delivers passengers at a very fast rate and very quickly to their destination. Whippet Express Coach coaches are normally silver/grey coloured with two blue or red stipes running around it, along with signs depicting its name. Some of the buses don't have coloured stripes running around it. There is an undocumented and largely unknown bus driving minigame in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City: If the player hijacks a coach and stops at bus stops, pedestrians will board the bus. The player is awarded $5 for each passenger that they pick up. An easy way to make money is to leave the game running while stopped at a bus stop, and passengers will continue to board as they walk past.

Trivia

  • The name is a reference to Greyhound Lines, as a whippet is a breed of dog similar to a small greyhound.
  • The name of this company may also be a play on the words "whip it".
  • Despite its name, the coach travels at the same speed as other coaches in the game.
  • The name of this coach company could be a reference to the 1980 hit new wave song Whip It by Devo.
