Azerbaijan, officially the Republic of Azerbaijan, is a country located in the Caucasus, in Eastern Europe and Western Asia, with borders to Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Iran, Turkey and the Caspian Sea. Azerbaijan became independent from the Soviet Union on October 18, 1991 and the capital city is Baku.
