Alderney State

Alderney State (also referred to as the State of Alderney or simply Alderney) is a fictional American state (or like Liberty State, a city-state, according to speculation) in the Grand Theft Auto series. It is a parody of the real-world American state of New Jersey. Alderney City is believed to be the capital of Alderney State, or simply a city-state (like Washington, D.C. or the Vatican). Although technically in a different state, the borough of Alderney seen in Grand Theft Auto IV is included in the metropolitan area of Liberty City.
