Having worked at the print works for a long time, Earnest has always fancied printing money, albeit on a smaller scale. With the help of Tommy, Earnest acquires high quality printing plates to produce better counterfeit money. It also appears Tommy has a soft spot for the old man, as his own father managed a print works when Vercetti was younger. Tommy seems to bond with Earnest and shows extreme concern and anger when Earnest is injured by [[Forelli]] enforcers who have come to take "their cut." Tommy then murders all of the Forelli Enforcers, and eventually [[Sonny Forelli]] himself, along with [[Lance Vance]]. It is implied that these injuries were relatively minor and Earnest is later revealed to have survived the attack; some time after the final mission, Tommy receives a phone call from Earnest, who is recovering from his injuries. Telling him, "Tommy, for a raging lunatic you sure are naive," and "I'll be back at work soon. Teach ya a thing or two about live you hear?" He became somewhat of a surrogate father to Tommy.

Earnest Kelly, credited as Old Man Kelly, is a character in the Grand Theft Auto series who appears as a supporting character in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. He is an employee of the print works in Vice City. He is voiced by George DiCenzo, who appeared in over thirty feature films.[1]

Character history

Earnest Kelly, at an unknown point in time, began working at the print works in Little Haiti, Vice City. In 1986 the company was purchased by Tommy Vercetti and the two form a plan to print money, with Kelly having fancied printing money on a small scale for years.[2] Vercetti later discovers a counterfeiting syndicate from the Vice City Triads and acquires high quality printing plates to produce better counterfeit money.[3] Kelly then begins to print the counterfeit money but is attacked and injured by some Forelli Family mobsters looking to collect payments for Sonny Forelli.[4] Vercetti, after insisting Kelly be taken to hospital, kills the mobsters and later Sonny Forelli. Vercetti later receives a phone call from Kelly explaining he was recovering and would be returning to work shortly.[5]
