The notorious Liberty City makes a repeat appearance in GTA IV

Liberty City in Grand Theft Auto IV has been remodeled to look much more like New York City compared to its GTA III Era renditions, featuring Broker (Brooklyn), Algonquin (Manhattan), Dukes (Queens) and Bohan (Bronx), with the neighbouring state of Alderney (New Jersey) also present. The total map area is slightly smaller than that of San Andreas, but is immensely more detailed and has no "wasted" open space such as countryside or desert.

The Banshee

The Banshee is one of the most iconic vehicles in the Grand Theft Auto series. Since its first appearance in GTA III, it has appeared in all following GTA games and has become a sought-after sports car and valuable vehicle to many players. It is a common sight in richer areas such as Starfish Island and has one of the highest speeds of any vehicle in the GTA series.

The design of the Banshee had differed thought the various games it has appeared in. In GTA III, GTA Liberty City Stories and GTA San Andreas it resembles a Dodge Viper RT/10. In GTA Vice City and GTA Vice City Stories it resembles a 1984-1996 Corvette C4. While in GTA IV the Banshee is manufactured by Bravado and adapts a more modern look, resembling a 1996-2002 Dodge Viper Coupe.

Learn about the Universe in GTA

The Grand Theft Auto World is a conceptual fictional world (or universe) consisting of the places shown in GTA games, such as, Liberty City, San Andreas, Vice City, Carcer City, London and others.

All the locations in the GTA III Era games must exist in the same fictional universe/world, since characters, storylines and brands cross between them, and in the whole there are no contradictions. Liberty City from GTA III is replicated almost identically in GTA Liberty City Stories, but set at a different time to GTA III to account for the differences. Likewise with GTA Vice City and GTA Vice City Stories.

However in GTA IV, the new Liberty City is totally different to that shown in GTA III or GTA 1, so these games are assumed to take place in different universes.

Banshee

The Banshee is a two-seater sports car featuring in all GTA games since GTA III. The Banshee is front-engine, rear-drive and boasts the deep rumble of 10 cylinders. The Banshee's acceleration, speed, and braking are among the best in its class, but this often comes at the expense of handling, especially at high speeds.

In GTA III, GTA Liberty City Stories, and GTA San Andreas it resembles a first-generation '90s Viper RT/10, whereas in GTA Vice City, and GTA Vice City Stories it looks to be a 1980's Corvette C4. The '90s Viper RT/10 version is the only top-down convertible that the player cannot jump into without opening the driver door.

In GTA IV, the Banshee resembles a 2003-2006 Dodge Viper Coupé and the Toyota Supra. The GTA IV version of the Banshee is manufactured by Bravado, the game's rendition of Dodge. The Banshee is also on of the cars requested from Brucie for his Exotic Imports and one for Stevie for his Car Theft Missions.

Taxi

The Taxi is a four door sedan featured, in some form or other, in all of the games in the Grand Theft Auto series so far. The Cabbie is the older, Checker cab-style equivalent seen in the GTA III Era.

A new feature introduced into GTA IV is hailing a cab. Niko Bellic can whistle to call the Taxi over then take it anywhere in the city for a fee, such as mission locations, safehouses, TW@ Internet Cafés, weapon shops or your GPS waypoint.

Special Vehicles

Through the GTA III and GTA IV eras, there are Special Vehicles which have some/all of the abilities of being bulletproof (BP), fireproof (FP), explosion-proof (EP), damage-proof (DP) por tyre pop-proof; and some with unique paintjobs. Most of these vehicles are only available in missions, whilst others are not available through normal gameplay.
