Users who have been nominiated for promotion (with <nowiki>{{promote}}</nowiki> in their user page) should be discussed here.
Please use this page to discuss the staff list and user access levels in general. To discuss becoming staff, see [[Grand Theft Wiki:Promotion]]

Don't forget that any member can act as a moderator, cleaning up content. It is the members who act as such who will be more likely to be accepted as a [[Sysop]], which gives them extra tools to help out. There is no point having an administrator that does not add content, because that is what GTW is all about.

Admin nomination procedure:

#Member is nominated (or nominates themselves) to become an admin
#If they were nominated by somebody else, they need to agree to the nomination
#A [[Bureaucrat]] will then approve the nomination if he thinks it should go ahead
#Questions will be asked to the candidate, who must answer them
#Users can comment on whether they think the candidate should become an admin or not.. AND WHY
#After a few days or couple of weeks, a bureaucrat will close the nomination and either approve or deny the application

==Patroller with move permission?==
Does the Patroller rank have the ability to move pages? If not, what do you staff think of the idea of granting the rank that privelige? I know of some wikis that allow ordinary users the ability to move pages (for better or worse), and it seems appropriate that a rank of intermediate, trusted user like patroller be granted the ability. I frequently come across pages that are obviously misnamed (Like Dragon Raign), and since there's no way to mark things as needing to be moved besides mentioning it on the talk page and hoping someone sees it, I'm sure patrollers could be trusted with the ability and would find it useful. --[[User:MattyDienhoff|MattyDienhoff]] 20:09, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

:To my knowledge Patrollers do not have that ability, although I see no reason why they shouldn't. As to become a patroller, they must have first proven to be reliable members. At the moment, however, the only way is to make a note on the talk page and hope that either [[User:Gboyers|Gboyers]], [[User:Biggest gta fan ever|Biggest gta fan ever]] or myself see the request. You could also contact one of us on our talk pages, which will flag up when we next visit the site. [[User:A-Dust|A-Dust]] 20:18, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

I nominated myself, as I thought, "Meh, what the heck? It's worth a shot!" [[User:Carl "CJ" Johnson|Carl "CJ" Johnson]] 21:07, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
::I agree - they should have that ability. However, Wikia have taken over control of the "powers" of each user group, and which user groups exist. I can only put someone into the following groups: Rollback (having the quick-revert ability), Admin (sysop) or Manager (bureaucrat). I have spoken with Wikia staff to try to get something set up. I still think having 3 levels of staff is reasonable, and is the best way of handling our wiki. I'll keep you informed. :Thanks for nominating yourself. The procedue for community-approved administrators is simple - firstly you answer some questions that I'll put below, then everybody can reply here with their opinions on whether you should or should not become an admin. A decision will be made by the existing admin team in a few days time. I know you nominated yourself for fun, but I think it's worth a try. It'll help us decide a proper system for future admins - so your help here would be appreciated.

===Questions for the candidate===
==Gta-mysteries==
Carl "CJ" Johnson, please answer these questions below (answer after the question). If anybody would like to ask another question, feel free.
Just wondering whether Gta-mysteries is currently a member of staff? The badge accompanies his edits but they are also flagged as needing patrolling. [[User:A-Dust|A-Dust]] 21:49, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

'''Why do you want to become an admin on Grand Theft Wiki?'''
:Gta-mysteries does not currently have admin rights due to [[User_talk:Gta-mysteries#Script|this]], but perhaps he should be marked as trusted so that his edits are automatically marked as patrolled? '''Do you have any experience on other wikis, or being an admin or moderator on any other sites?'''
::His edits are currently ''not'' patrolled for exactly that reason - we want to be sure the virus (or whatever) has gone before we give those rights back. I'll check through his edits, make sure it's all okay, and re-promote as necessary. We also now have a spam filter which stops anyone saving a page with a script in. -Your contributions to the site were very prominent in late 2006. Recently however, as a site moderator you have failed to prove that you can work on the site, and devote time into writing new articles. (This is simply by checking the site changes in the last 30 days) 3/10

-You spend too much time editing your own page then other site articles (Also by checking the site's changes) 2/10

-Your co-operation level is good with Grand Theft Wiki admins. 9/10

-Your article style is good, but not excellent, you can improve articles by adding a picture to every article (where applicable) and working on spelling, formatting, etc. 6/10

OVERALL 4/10

Tips
-CJ you must contribute more to general articles then your user page!!

-Its better that you spend more time on each article

Other then that there is nothing stopping you from becoming an sysop. Remember if you dont get it this time, fix your errors and you can try again after some reasonable time (ie. in a month), but you MUST take to account what is written above or you will again end up in the same place.

Patroller with move permission?

Does the Patroller rank have the ability to move pages? If not, what do you staff think of the idea of granting the rank that privelige? I know of some wikis that allow ordinary users the ability to move pages (for better or worse), and it seems appropriate that a rank of intermediate, trusted user like patroller be granted the ability. To my knowledge Patrollers do not have that ability, although I see no reason why they shouldn't. As to become a patroller, they must have first proven to be reliable members. At the moment, however, the only way is to make a note on the talk page and hope that either Gboyers, Biggest gta fan ever or myself see the request. I agree - they should have that ability. Gboyers talk 20:35, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

New Staff

I've just edited the Staff page and moved all the moderators to the inactive staff list, as none of them have edited in the past month. So we may want to take on more staff at this stage. A-Dust 01:46, December 2, 2009 (UTC)

Gta-mysteries does not currently have admin rights due to this, but perhaps he should be marked as trusted so that his edits are automatically marked as patrolled? JFletcherTalk (formerly User:Biggest gta fan ever) 22:02, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
