The Hydra is GTA equivalent of the Harrier JumpJet. It is one of the newest vehicles in [[Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas|San Andreas]] in comparison with [[Grand Theft Auto: Vice City|Vice City]] and other earlier games. While in earlier games, mods where available in order to put fighter planes into the game this is the first aircraft of this type to come as standard. It has the ability to shoot guided missles, and missile countermeasures (flares). It is available from the aircraft carrier in [[San Fierro]], also from Area 69 in the Las Venturas desert (there are 2 of them), and from the airstrip on the outskirts of [[Las Venturas]]. When you reach the 5-star wanted level, these fighters will try to take you down.
