Independence Day Special
The Independence Day Special is a time-limited content update for Grand Theft Auto Online that was released on July 1st 2014. The update is only available until mid-July, although all items the player purchases from it in GTA Online will stay in their inventory. Promotional material for the update claim that it is "sponsored by Ammu-Nation".

The update has considerably more content than the previous holiday-themed update (the Valentine's Day Massacre Special), including:
- two new vehicles, the Vapid Liberator monster truck and the Western Sovereign.
- two new weapons, the Musket and the Firework Launcher.
- seven new properties that can be purchased via Dynasty 8.
- the Ferris Whale and the Leviathan Roller Coaster at Pleasure Pier are now rideable.
- over forty items of American-themed clothing.
- six new animal masks that can be purchased from Vespucci Movie Masks, each coming in two colour variations.
- special Crate Drops, which may contain exclusive beer-can hats and the Happiness Is...Land Sweater.
- the "Patriot" option for Parachute smoke, which alternates between red, white and blue.
- the "Patriot" option for tyre smoke.
- four new car horns, each being a part of The Star Spangled Banner.
- the "Mullet" hairstyle.
- "Stars 'n' Stripes" face paint, available from barbershops.
- various balancing fixes.
