The flag of Ireland, also known as the Irish tricolour.

Ireland, officially known as the Republic of Ireland, is a sovereign country located in the west of Europe with a border with Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom. Ireland is otherwise surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, with the Celtic Sea to the south, Saint George's Channel to the south east and the Irish Sea to the east. Ireland gained independence from the United Kingdom on December 6, 1922 and its first constitution on December 29, 1937. The capital of Ireland is Dublin.
