Just Business is a mission and the last in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, given to protagonist Carl "CJ" Johnson by secondary antagonist and high-ranking Grove Street Families member Melvin "Big Smoke" Harris from his house in Idlewood, Los Santos, San Andreas.

Mission

Carl drops by Smoke's house and finds him in the garage. They agree to take a ride somewhere in Downtown as Smoke has business to take care of, presumably with the Russians, who he mentions. They head to Commerce and Smoke enters the Atrium there. After a brief moment, a shoot-out is heard inside and Carl quickly rushes inside and protects Smoke from the attacking Russian goons. Once all the Russians are dead the two hop on a BF-400 and start to escape. Carl acts as the shooter and kills as many enemies and on the way they avoid roadblock after which they then head towards the storm drain for flood control and get chased through the open drains later and all the Russians there die in a huge explosion while the bike survives. After a long chase, Smoke rides through an alley and halts in East Beach, reaching via the old sewer. Having lost all the Russians, they agree to split up.

Script

(Carl and Smoke over at Smoke's house.)

Big Smoke: Hey, CJ, baby, whassup man?

CJ: What's happening, Smoke?

Big Smoke: Chillin'. Wanna go for a ride?

CJ: Yeah.

Big Smoke: You drive. We're going Downtown.

(Carl and Smoke start driving to the Atrium in Commerce.)

CJ: This better not be another cop errand, man!

Big Smoke: Nah, man, this is strictly for the homies. I gotta be honest with you, CJ, we could be getting into some heavy shit, baby.

CJ: What you into, Smoke?

Big Smoke: Lot of shit about to go down Carl - Families coming back, Ballas pushing base, Russian cats with nothing to lose about to bust some ass.

CJ: Russians?

Big Smoke: Now all my life I have been told to fear Russians. But I ain't never even met one. Five minutes later my cousin gets laid off by some Ruskie fresh off the boat.

CJ: For real?

Big Smoke: For real!

(Carl and Smoke reach their destination and Smoke goes inside the Atrium.)

Big Smoke: Look Carl, before I walk in there I just need to know you down with this shit, man.

CJ: Look, Smoke, we go way back. We Groves, man!

Big Smoke: That's what I'm talking about, that's my dog! Hey look, if you hear shit start to pop off, come in there blasting, a'ight?

CJ: I'm down, dog. (asks a lady in the vicinity) Hey baby, want company?

Big Smoke: (shouts from the inside) Motherfuckers! (as Carl gets in) CJ, get in here - oh there you are! Use some cover, they're blasting like fools in this motherfucker! Ice those fools, CJ!

Russian: Big Smoke, you made big mistake!

Big Smoke: Watch yourself, CJ, I think they's pissed! CJ, take the right and cover my ass! Keep it up baby! That's my dog, makin' y'all pay!

(Smoke and Carl kill all the Russians inside the Atrium.)

Big Smoke: Stick with me CJ, we outta here, baby!

(Outside the Atrium, more Russians come in on to attack.)

Big Smoke: Stick real close Carl! Keep your head down, that airs as thick as shit in here!

Russian: Smoke, you and your friend are dead men!

Big Smoke: Motherfuckers! Back me up! That's my homie, CJ! Ha ha ha ha, homie, you ice cold, baby!

(All the attackers are dead, Smoke and Carl jump on a bike.)

Big Smoke: Time to return the favor baby, get on!

(Smoke and Carl drive down the spiral parking lot and are followed by a black bike.)

Carl Johnson: They after us on a bike, Smoke!

Big Smoke: Waste any motherfucker that follows us!

CJ: Shit man, they comin' fo' us in a truck!

Big Smoke: Don't tell me about it, take it off the road, pop it! Damn! Look at all this traffic - GET OUTTA THE WAY! I'm comin' through!

CJ: We got bikes on our six - smash it Smoke!

Big Smoke: Hold on tight,baby!

(Smoke hits a ramp and jumps over 2 buses.)

CJ: Aww Smoke, NOOOOOOO!!!

(The Packer hits a bus.)

CJ: Ah, they hit a bus!

Big Smoke: Ha ha ha, I'll never dis public transportation again! (encounters a roadblock) Damn, road-blocked!

CJ: Ah Smoke, these cats is organised. It's something you ain't tellin' me man!

Big Smoke: Look Carl, all I know is that they're real pissed with us right now! Hold on though, I got an idea.

CJ: Smoke, what you thinkin'? Flood controls a dead end, man!

Big Smoke: To hell with that, we have to lose those cars, don't worry about that. I know a way out, up past Grove Street.

CJ: The old sewer tunnel? Oh man...

Big Smoke: Watch out backs!

CJ: Smoke, it's more bikes!

(The Packer truck drives off a bridge and into the canal, rejoining the chase.)

CJ: Oh shit, now the truck's found us again.

Big Smoke: Man, stop being so negative! Focus on the good news!

CJ: Such as?

Big Smoke: We ain't dead, and your trigger finger still works, fool! I think the gearbox is screwed up on this thing! I can't get no speed!

CJ: Yeah, who negative now bitch?

Big Smoke: Point taken. I'll keep my mouth shut from now on. Watch out backs!

(A car drops off the Packer, hitting a Russian car and causing it to explode.)

Big Smoke: OH SHIT!

CJ: Oh man, the cars found a ramp!

Big Smoke: Don't tell me about it, SHOOT!

(Another car falls off the Packer.)

Big Smoke: Hold on!

CJ: Get us up that ramp, Smoke!

Big Smoke: I'm on it baby!

CJ: We still got bikes on us, man!

Big Smoke: Man, quit bitchin' and shoot as many of them assholes as you can! Fools totaled their truck!

CJ: Go around 'em, man!

Big Smoke: Screw that, we're taking the scenic route!

(Smoke uses the packer to jump over a roadblock, causing all the roadblock cars to explode.)

Big Smoke: Fry, motherfuckers! That's the old sewer up ahead! Shoot out the gate!

(Carl can shoot the gate or leave it in place, resulting in them crashing through.)

Big Smoke: (if Carl doesn't shoot) The gate, Carl, the gate! (if he shoots) Nice one, CJ, here we go!

CJ: Man, I used to hate this tunnel when we was kids.

Big Smoke: Hey, we can reminisce later, we still got company!

CJ: Don't these guys ever give up?

(After a long chase, Smoke and Carl manage to lose the Russians.)

CJ: We lost 'em, Smoke! Man, we better split up.

Big Smoke: Man, that was some crazy shit back there!

CJ: Yeah, for sure. Listen, we can't hang around here - I'll see you later, homie.

Big Smoke: Much love, baby! (zooms off and away)

Reward

The reward for this mission is increased respect. The mission Reuniting the Families is unlocked, given that the missions Gray Imports, High Stakes, Low Rider, House Party, Los Sepulcros and Robbing Uncle Sam have been completed beforehand.

Trivia

  • A scene in the mission featuring a Packer jumping off a surface road in slow motion into a storm drain channel which Smoke and Carl are using to escape is a nod to a similar scene in the 1991 film Terminator 2: Judgment Day, where a large towtruck (driven by a Terminator) executes a similar stunt as it is in pursuit of John Connor (also riding a motorcycle).
  • The BF-400 in this mission has the numberplate reading "IMY AK" (Similiar to the Feltzer in End of the Line).
  • This is the only mission for Smoke that does not involve any Vagos.
  • There is a glitch where, if the bike explodes in the sewer control paths and kills Smoke before it says the bike is totaled you will get to keep all of you weapons for the rest of the game (even when you die and get arrested) and you have unlimited ammo for SMG, Micro-SMG, or TEC9 until you complete the mission.
  • The song at the start of the cutscene is Biz Markie's "Vapors". This song can also be heard on Playback FM.
  • When you reach the old sewer you do not have to shoot off the gate to get through however. Smoke, however, will tell Carl to shoot out the gate even after having crashed through.
  • Since the player is only left with a total of 80 micro-SMG bullets at the end of the mission, it is best to play this before Doberman.
  • Trying the health cheat, as is a similar case with End of the Line, will fail the mission by causing the bike to blast, resulting in Smoke's death.
