Liberty City
Liberty City is a haven of crime and corruption. It is also the setting for Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, Grand Theft Auto III, and one of the three settings of the original Grand Theft Auto. Claude Speed, Tony Cipriani, and Carl Johnson are car thieves who have legendary status in this city. New York City is the real life counterpart of Liberty City. Until a spoof city is made of Washington, D.C., it is assumed that either Liberty City or Carcer City is the capital of Rockstar's fictional America-type country. There is a strong presence of Jamaican (Yardies), Italian (Leone Mafia), Japanese (Yakuza), Chinese (Triad), East Indian (taxi drivers), and Hispanic (Diablos) people.
