Mijo was a friend of Niko Bellic who fought alongside him and thirteen others, including Darko Brevic, Florian Cravic, Goran, Dragan and Dmitar in the Bosnian Wars in Yugoslavia in the early 1990s. He was killed after Darko Brevic betrayed the squad to the enemy, who killed all but three of the squad, with Niko, Florian and Darko all surviving.
