tocThere are many myths regarding the large world in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Only a couple of these really exist. While some were denied by developer Rockstar Games, the rest can not be proved or disproved. Most of these myths are either misconceptions or made up.
unofficialtocspoiler
There are a variety of myths, legends and rumours revolving around Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Most of these do not actually exist in the game, but there are many Easter Eggs in this and other GTA games. Nevertheless, many GTA gamers and even organised groups of mythhunters spend many hours tracking down the mythical creatures, locations and vehicles.
Bigfoot
Bigfoot is one of the most commonly cited myth from GTA San Andreas that is fake
Angel on Rock
The Angel on Rock, is a proven geographical feature that appears on a rock next to a road in Back O' Beyond. The image appears to be in the shape of an angel, or a creature with wings. The image may be a hint to the Angel myth on the nearby Mount Chiliad. Some people have claimed it is the Mothman or a Pyramid Head. This could also be a tourist attraction as the town nearby is called Angel Pine, so this could be like a symbol or namesake for the town.

Loch Ness monster
Beverly Johnson's Ghost
The legend of the Loch Ness monster was one of the first myths to emerge. It was believed that it appears in the Fisher's Lagoon, one of the few lakes accessible by the player at the very beginning of the game. Like many other myths, this had a strong support back in 2005, but lacks any evidence or in-game references, which classifies this myth as fake. It was confirmed later by a Rockstar spokesman that the 'Nessie' myth is fake.
Many people claim that Beverly Johnson's ghost appears in the kitchen/living room of Carl's house in Ganton.

UFOs
Bigfoot
UFOs are another popular myth from GTA San Andreas.
Bigfoot is one of the most popular myths associated with the game. Although many people claim that they have seen Bigfoot, there is no proof that he exists, and many videos captured of Bigfoot are either glitches, mods, or made-up. Moreover, Rockstar confirmed in an interview that Bigfoot doesn't exist in the game. Refer to the main article for more information on Bigfoot.

Jaws
The Big Ear
Jaws is the name given to sharks in GTA San Andreas. It has been debated whether or not they are really dolphins. Many people claim that they were eaten or stabbed to death while swimming. Those who do not believe in this myth usually blame the oxygen level which some people tend to forget to watch. There were many videos and pictures featuring the shark and CJ, quite often under the Gant Bridge. However, all cases of the shark's appearance were described in a different way, leading many people to believe that all of the stories are made up. Up to now, it is believed by many that sharks are not present in GTA San Andreas; if the dolphins are supposed to be sharks, they do not attack the player in any case.
This myth is slightly associated with The Big Ear. It is about an unknown radio station that appears when you are near the Big Ear. If you are in a vehicle, players say that the strange radio station will be picked up by the car's radio. The sounds that come from the station are said to be a static, fuzzy noise. The strange sounds are said to be the transmitions from UFOs picked up from the Big Ear. Also there are rumors about Mutants appearing there during night.

There is a shark model in the game's data files, which makes these myths plausible, although many people claim that this model is the shark that appears in the sea in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City or Steve Scott's robotic shark from Films.
Big Smoke's Ghost
After you killed Big Smoke and finished the last mission End of the Line, the Crack Palace will still be accessible, even when a explosion took place there. If you enter the Crack Palace you'll notice there's no signs of destruction inside. There are rumors that, if you enter the Crack Palace, you'll hear Bigsmoke's voice inside or even see his ghost walking in the corridors.
Chainsaw Killer/Leatherface/Panopticon Killer/Piggsy
Another strong myth of GTA San Andreas is the Chainsaw killer. He has many names such as Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Piggsy from another Rockstar game, Manhunt, and even Hitler, but to avoid confusion this article will refer to him as The Killer. The whole idea of The Killer started when somebody said that he/she heard a chainsaw in The Panopticon area. Many have assumed this to be true due to the nature of the area - it looks scary when it is foggy, is full of small sheds and cut-down trees and contains a chainsaw pickup. The strange sound can be heard during rainy weather on the first version of the game as a glitch. Over time, the myth has evolved and people have started to find out more clues and weird objects. It is said that The Killer lives in the countryside near the Shady Cabin in the Panopticon, uses a chainsaw or a firearm to kill his victims, and appears from behind the player (usually from the house) and kills him almost instantly. Although many people have claimed that they have seen The Killer, there is still no strong evidence to confirm his existence. There are also many descriptions of The Killer; they all differ, which makes it difficult to believe that The Killer's existence is plausible. His existence has also been reported at Mount Chiliad, Fisher's Lagoon, Shady Cabin, and other farms. There have been sightings of Leatherface in Fisher's Lagoon near the wheelchair and the little house on the shore. Two dead bodies (a man and a woman) can be found on the road going up Mount Chiliad, implying that the killer killed them during sex.

Rusty wheelchair
Leatherface has been proved to be a pedestrian who spawns with a chainsaw in the Mission "The Meat Business" and is believed to have been used by Rockstar Games outside of that mission.

There's an abandoned wheelchair at the end of the wharf in Fisher's Lagoon. It uses the same texture as a waste skip in San Andreas. The wheel chair was believed by many to be a reference to the movie The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, as one of the youths in this movie is in a wheel chair, but is actually the same wheel chair that can be seen in the start of the Rockstar game Manhunt. The following pedestrian dialog can be heard in Palomino Creek:

- Have you seen this disabled person chair moving?

- No, have you?
Desert Ranger
The Ranger is said to appear driving in strange locations, like in Aldea Malvada, Arco Del Oeste, and El Castillo del Diablo, usually in the middle of a field or a desert. This is odd, as pedestrians are not coded to appear in these locations. The SUV can also be seen driving erratically and crashing or grinding against buildings and fences. He can also be found in Verdant Meadows, Toreno's Ranch and in Bayside, San Fierro.

- Neither have I, bye-bye!
Epsilon Cult
Epsilon Program
The Epsilon Program is a fictional religious cult that is referred to in a number of Grand Theft Auto games, but not yet shown. Led by Cris Formage, the cult first emerged as a teaser site for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and more recently a twitter account for GTA V.

- Bye-Bye!
There are several myths and rumours surrounding hidden appearances and references to Epsilon in GTA San Andreas. See Epsilon Program for the full list.

Some people see timings on the front wheels of the chair and assume that something will happen at those times. The "mystery of the chair" was never solved in the standard GTA game, and it is believed the chair doesn't carry any hidden meaning. Although, when two members of GTAForums launched their own competition called GTA Treasurehunt, in which the last mission involved solving the wheelchair mystery. After the lake was filled up with rocks and stones a dead body was found floating in the middle.
Falling Black Dots
This myth is about small black dots or streaks that fall at a very excessive speed from the sky at night all around San Andreas. These dots are usually too quick to be seen, and the player can only spot them if he is standing still looking up at the sky.

Ghost cars
Players have claimed that small black dots can be seen falling from the sky around Mount Chiliad, Area 69, and the Verdant Meadows airstrip, though others have claimed that they can appear anywhere on the map. The dots are reported to appear more frequently in desert areas, like El Castillo Del Diablo.
One of the myths which was proved to exist. These are broken cars which spawn in the countryside areas of San Andreas. If they spawn on a slope, they roll down it as if they're being driven. There are a number of locations all over the countryside and the desert where smashed up Glendales can be seen, but only one of them is moving down the hill. Some people claim that on rare occasions a glitch can occur, in which case Glendales can be seen cruising around Los Santos. It should be noted the there is a mod that makes ghost cars follow the player, like the car Christine. Their appearance is simply because they have been abandoned in the forest.

Some people have seen a ghostly vortex in San Fierro bay. The reason for it to be moving is the same as for the ghost cars - it spawns on the slope. The mist comes from sliding down the sandy beach.

Beverly Johnson's ghost
Falling Lemmings
This myth started when so-called "ghost graffiti" was discovered at Los Santos cemetery. Many people were claiming that Beverly Johnson's ghost appears in the kitchen/living room of CJ's house in Ganton every midnight. Sometimes the time varied - it had to be Halloween on the computer's clock, or it has to be Friday in the game. Some were saying that the ghost appears in the cemetery under the same, or similar, conditions. However, nobody has claimed that they have seen the ghost, neither are there any pictures or videos. Furthermore, Rockstar have officially denied it's existence.
Due to glitches, some peds can spawn on high places and fall down from them.

Ghost Cars
The Ghost Cars myth is essentially based upon the misinterpretation of a minor glitch. The myth centered on the abandoned cars, which spawn in the rural areas of San Andreas. If they spawn on a slope, they roll down it as if they're being driven. Some curious players investigated the cars and found that there was nobody in it, thus leading them to believe that the car was driving itself. However, there is nothing particularly strange about the vehicles themselves, as they were simply put there in case the player got stranded in the countryside without a vehicle. There is a mod involving the Glendales in the Back o Beyond. Once activated, players that go near a parked Glendale, the car's lights will turn on, and start attacking players (this mod also applies to the beat-up Sadler near the ghost car area).

There is also a random car parked in a driveway in Playa del Seville‎ that sometimes rolls down into the road (this depends on the car).

Girl from TV
Also, from time to time, a certain glitch may occur. If the driver shoots and kills the driver of a car, sometimes, the person's body may not fall out. When this happens, the car still drives itself as if the driver was never killed. The only way to stop the car is to carjack the owner and take the car as shooting the already dead body will not work.

This myth is also the one that did not get much support - in fact, it all has started with a video uploaded onto YouTube in 2006, featuring CJ in his living room looking around when the black girl appears from the television in the corner and disappears a second later. There is no other proof of this girl. It is believed that it is was either a glitch which caused a pedestrian to spawn in the house by mistake and was removed by the game immediately, or it was a mod for the PC version of GTA San Andreas. The dark figure looks very similar to a homeless pedestrian from San Fierro which has a sign that reads "God is playing with us!" on his chest - there was even a video on YouTube comparing both the TV girl and the tramp pictures. Currently, the myth is remembered occasionally, usually with an ironic purpose as there isn't any proof of the girl's existence apart from the short, blurred video.

Horses in Las Barrancas
<gallery>

File:Ghostcar-GTASA.jpg|A ghost car.
The reference to horses can be found on the Rockstar website, on the Tierra Robada section of the map. When the cursor is positioned over the Las Barrancas icon, the following text can be seen at the bottom of the map:
</gallery>

<blockquote>A quaint desert town steeped in local history, home to preserved Hopi ruins and the terrible setting of the Barrancas Mass Grave. In 1842, the 66th Cavalry, under the command of Colonel Henry Bolt, was stationed in nearby Fort Carson when they answered a call for help from homesteaders under attack from bandits. Riding to the rescue, the whole force fell down a hole. It is said that the sound of a hundred horses can be heard riding through the town at midnight... </blockquote>
Ghost Guard
If you go to The Big Spread Ranch strip club in Bone County and attempt to kill everyone inside, a guard will spawn in a corner after everyone is dead trying to kill you. The reason he tries to kill you is unknown but no matter how many times you try to kill him, he will just keep re-spawning. After killing the guard about 4-5 times, you will begin to gain a wanted level. A strange thing is that although this strip club's interior is also used in other strip clubs in San Andreas, this is the only one where the Ghost Guard spawns.

Though there is little support/speculation, some people spent some time trying to hear the sound of horses at midnight, but failed to do so. It is unclear which hole was mentioned in the legend and whether it still exists. So far no evidence has been found about the presence of any type of anomaly in Las Barrancas.
Ghost Grafitti
This myth may have started when a "ghost graffiti" texture glitch was discovered at Los Santos cemetery.

The hole has also been called Leatherface's body bags but sightings of Leatherface have been in the countryside, and as Las Barrancas is in the desert this is not possible.
Ghost Planes
Around the state, airplanes can be regularly seen crashing into tall structures. These airplanes seem to be oblivious to their surroundings, and may crash head-on into structures even though there may seemingly be enough time for them to maneuver out of the way. Other times, the airplanes may crash head-on into the ground near the player, often resulting in death of the player or destruction of his vehicle.

Panopticon Killer/Leatherface/Chainsaw Killer
Ghost Town Figure
People have posted videos on YouTube claiming that they've seen a ghostly person in an abandoned town's cemetery. There is a lack of evidence to support this claim. The videos were showing heavily modded games on the PC and the "ghost person" is usually a black-textured pedestrian.
Another strong myth of GTA San Andreas is a Chainsaw killer. He has many names such as Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and even Hitler, but to avoid confusion this article will refer to him as The Killer. The whole idea of The Killer started when somebody said that they heard a chainsaw in The Panopticon area. It may be true - the area looks scary when it is foggy; it is full of small sheds and cut down trees; there is also a chainsaw pickup there. The strange sound can be heard during rainy weather on the first edition of the game as a glitch. Eventually, the myth has evolved, people started to find out more clues and weird objects. It is said that The Killer lives in the countryside, near the Shady Cabin in the Panopticon, he uses a chainsaw or a firearm to kill his victims, and he appears from behind the player (usually from the house) and kills him almost instantly. Although many people have claimed they have seen the killer, there is still no strong evidence to his existence. There are also many descriptions of the killer, they all differ which makes it difficult to believe that killer's existence is plausible.

In the Panopticon area at nighttime in a stormy foggy weather it is possible to mistake the killer for a cut down tree or another solid object.
Ghost Vortex
Some people have also claimed to have seen a ghostly Vortex shrouded by a "ghostly mist" in the San Fierro bay area. The reason that it moves is because, like the Glendale, it spawns on a slope, and the "mist" is the result of the sand being kicked up as it slides down the beach.

Phonebooth in the desert
<gallery>
Many people have reported coming across a phonebooth in the desert. The phonebooth rings until the player approaches and answers the phone. When answered, there is no one on another end. Although it was one of the first myths to emerge, it is still unclear whether the myth is real. It is in some ways - there are many phoneboothes in the desert area, especially in towns (not in the desert itself), but none of them are ringing. At the moment there is only a Phonebooth mod available.

Serial Killer
Girl from the TV/Samara
This myth is very similar to the Panopticon Killer. The only difference is that this man lives in the desert and uses a rifle to kill his victims. The majority of people tend to think that he lives in a small house in Tierra Robada, not far from a Cluckin' Bell. Some people have posted videos of him in Fort Carson with a combat shotgun or unarmed. He is believed to be the same man as Mr. Trenchcoat (see the UFOs article for more information). He can often be seen on the small road next to the river, just meters away from his house. People have claimed that this person starts randomly shooting and kills other pedestrians - at this moment, no evidence has been found. It is believed that this myth started when someone had a riot cheat enabled. The Myth of the serial killer is sometimes linked with the myth of the Las Venturas desert Mass Grave.
This myth is also the one that did not get much support - in fact, it all has started with a video uploaded onto YouTube in 2006, featuring Carl in his living room looking around when the black girl appears from the television in the corner and disappears a second later. There is no other proof of this girl. It is believed that it is either a glitch which caused a pedestrian to spawn in the house by mistake and was removed by the game immediately, or it was a mod for the PC version of GTA San Andreas. The dark figure looks very similar to a homeless pedestrian from San Fierro which has a sign that reads "God is playing with us!" on his chest - there was even a video on YouTube comparing both the TV girl and the tramp pictures.

Horror/screaming voices
Grave Robber
This, just like Bigfoot and Leatherface is another myth that some people have claimed to hear while playing the game. The most common hearing of these horror voices is on Mount Chiliad, in a shack halfway up the mountain, used in a mission in the Badlands section of the game. It was midnight and stormy when these hearings happened. Some believe that it is just a mod or a hoax. Other people claimed to hear the screaming voices in Panopticon area and in Back o' Beyond. However, it was later discovered that in one case the "screaming voice" was the sound of an abandoned Quadbike's tyres screeching against the rock, as it was stuck in the ground. It's also possible to hear a loud groan near Gant Bridge, mostly at nights. This has been mistaken for bigfoot, but has been identified as the fog horn of one of the ships around the bay.
Grave Robber is a person who steal bodies from their graves in San Andreas, some persons say that Grave Robber is actually Ed Gein. They can be found in Palomino Creek and Vinewood's cemetery. The Vinewood cemetery has a green glowing light, strangely. It's possible that the Mass Grave with body bags has a connection with the Grave Robber myth.
Horses in Las Barrancas
The reference to horses can be found on the Rockstar website, on the Tierra Robada section of the map. When the cursor is positioned over the Las Barrancas icon, the following text can be seen at the bottom of the map:

Epsilon cult
<blockquote>A quaint desert town steeped in local history, home to preserved Hopi ruins and the terrible setting of the Barrancas Mass Grave. In 1842, the 66th Cavalry, under the command of Colonel Henry Bolt, was stationed in nearby Fort Carson when they answered a call for help from homesteaders under attack from bandits. Riding to the rescue, the whole force fell down a hole. It is said that the sound of a hundred horses can be heard riding through the town at midnight...</blockquote>
Please refer to the main Epsilon Program article for more information.

Door in the sky
Though there is little support/speculation, some people spent some time trying to hear the sound of horses at midnight, but failed to do so. It is unclear which hole was mentioned in the legend and whether it still exists. So far no evidence has been found about the presence of any type of anomaly in Las Barrancas.
The Yellow door secret is explained in The Epsilon Program article.

The door in the sky are actually yellow markers that allow you to walk through and end up inside of a building.
Many people have taken the "hole" referenced here to be the mass grave near Las Brujas. This would seem incongruous however, as they are on opposite sides of the river, and the hole in question is both up against a wall and too small for an entire cavalry division to fall into.

The only two yellow markers that are found in the sky are above Cluckin' Bell in the desert. In order to proceed, you will need to enable cheats/hacks to reach these doors. They are far up in the sky and are reachable with cheats/hacks.
Killer Cowboy
This pedestrian normally spawns in rural or countryside areas, but the pedestrian involved with this myth can be found near the two bridges that connect Shady Creeks to Back O' Beyond. The pedestrian is known to attack the player unprovoked and with no warning at all. This myth is very strange, because it would be unusual to find pedestrians in very isolated areas like Back O' Beyond.

Reports say the two doors are only houses that were meant for Robbery Missions. Rockstar hides these interiors for a reason for nobody to find or reach. In San Andreas, Rockstar hides these marks above San Andreas.
Loch Ness Monster
The legend of the Loch Ness monster was one of the first myths to emerge. It was believed that it appears in the Fisher's Lagoon, one of the few lakes accessible by the player at the very beginning of the game. Like many other myths, this had a strong support back in 2005, but lacks any evidence or in-game references, which would seem to classify this myth as fake. It was later confirmed by a Rockstar spokesman that the 'Nessie' myth is fake.

Suicide Pedestrian
Mass Grave
A Mass Grave pit located at the foot of a mesa in El Castillo del Diablo, Bone County, north of the Restricted Area and south of the Verdant Meadows aircraft graveyard in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The pit, which takes the form of a large round hole, contains six body bags, and a Bobcat truck and shovel pickup next to the pit.
This is another myth found to be true. In Flint County near the Flint Intersection Bridge, a pedestrian is found taking photos usually once, but in rare times twice, and then walking into the water and drowning, this myth has been proven by many people. Like the Ghost Cars, the pedestrians vary all the time.

Ocean Portal
The Ocean Portal is a myth in GTA San Andreas. The myth is about when a player swims really deep into the ocean using the infinity oxygen cheat, they don't drown, instead, they go through the sea floor and suddenly get teleported to a different area of the map. The myth originated from the Bermuda Triangle myth investigations, and attempts from players to reach Liberty City.
Phonebooth
Phonebooth and an unknown caller in the desert
A popular story about a mystery phone booth in the desert are circulating around the Internet. It is claimed that the phonebooth rings and that if the player approaches it, no one responds to the call. This myth may have its root in a real life phone booth that was located on an isolated road in the Mojave Desert between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. There is however, a Phone booth mod available which places phone boxes in random places around the desert.

Rusty Wheelchair
There's an abandoned wheelchair at the end of the wharf in Fisher's Lagoon. It uses the same texture as a waste skip in Bayside Marina. The wheelchair was believed by many to be a reference to the movie The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, as one of the youths in this movie is in a wheelchair, but is in fact more likely a reference to the Rockstar game Manhunt, where it can be seen at the beginning. The following pedestrian dialog can be heard in Palomino Creek:

- Have you seen this disabled person chair moving?

- No, have you?

- Neither have I, bye-bye!

- Bye-Bye!

This is, however, strictly non-canon.

Although many people try to connect the skip with the wheelchair, It is obvious that Rockstar Games did not bother to create a new texture dedicated to this simple useless model, the skip texture appeared rusty, so that used that instead of creating a new one.

Sharks
People have claimed to have seen sharks in the waters of San Andreas. They are said to be just mods, but others claim they're just rare. It is unknown if these sharks actually exist in the game. Some have stated that sharks actually attack Carl Johnson and kill him; others say they just swim away frightened. People have actually mistaken dolphins for sharks because they look similar in game. Like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the sharks in GTA San Andreas are invincible and will not die after being shot. People have said that sharks are only found underneath the Gant Bridge. The IMG tool for gta3.img on San Andreas actually proves that sharks exist in San Andreas because it states that the shark.dff file is in the game. As seen in numerous videos, the shark doesn't even attack Carl Johnson and highly resembles a White Tip Shark.

Serial Killer
This myth is very similar to the Panopticon Killer. The only difference is that this man lives in the desert and uses a rifle to kill his victims. The majority of people tend to think that he lives in a small house in Tierra Robada, not far from a Cluckin' Bell. Some people have posted videos of him in Fort Carson with a combat shotgun or unarmed. He is believed to be the same man as "Mr. Trenchcoat" (see the UFOs article for more information). He can often be seen on the small dirt road next to the river, just meters away from his house, and in the Lil' Probe Inn. To be fair, the image presented of the "killer" is merely a pedestrian model that can be found in many other towns nearby, even multiple times over, same as with any other model. People have claimed that this person starts randomly shooting and killing other pedestrians; at this moment, no evidence has been found. It is believed that this myth started when someone had a riot cheat enabled without realizing it. The myth of the serial killer is sometimes linked with the myth of the Las Venturas desert Mass Grave.

The Shady Creek Creature
Screaming Voices
Vary much like Bigfoot, the Shady Creek Creature is a figure that runs around the woodland area in South San Andreas. Mainly Shady Creek.
This, just like Bigfoot and Leatherface, is another myth that some people have claimed to have encountered while playing the game. The most common hearing of these horror voices is on Mount Chiliad, in a shack halfway up the mountain, used in a mission in the game. It was midnight and stormy when these hearings happened. Some believe that it is just a mod or a hoax. Other people claimed to hear the screaming voices in Panopticon area and in Back o' Beyond. However, it was later discovered that in one case the "screaming voice" was the sound of an abandoned Quad bikes tires screeching against the rock, as it was stuck in the ground. It's also possible to hear a loud groan near Gant Bridge, mostly at nights. This has been attributed to Bigfoot, but has been identified as the fog horn of one of the ships around the bay.
Recently it was proved by a user in Youtube, who posted a video about this Myth in GTA San Andreas, that the screaming voices are actually caused by pedestrians, who fall from the mountain due to a spawn glitch in the game which is very similar to the falling lemmings and suicidal photographers.

The Creature can be spotted during the hours of 22:00 to 03:00. It also has to be foggy or stormy.<br />It is not a large being like Bigfoot, it is normal sized and from what we know, compleatly black. It is said to look like CJ in his gim suit.
Suicidal Photographers
The Suicidal Photographer is usually sighted on the inlet near the Los Santos-Countyside border in Flint County, next to a small trailer park. It is a pedestrian that can be seen kneeling down and taking photos of the Los Santos skyline from across the inlet. However, after the pedestrian takes a couple of photos, the ped will stand up and then walk straight over a small cliff and fall into the water, where he will drown. The pedestrian spawns in different ped models, but they all act the same way. This strange phenomenon can be witnessed at any time of the day.

Las Brujas Ghost Town
Sharks
Ever since the release of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, players have been debating about the presence of sharks in the game. Many people claim that they were eaten or stabbed to death while swimming. Those who do not believe in this myth usually blame the oxygen level which some people tend to forget to watch sometimes. Also, players will frequently mistake dolphins for sharks.

The Woods Creature
The Woods Creature is an ambiguous term that refers to a myriad of creatues inhabiting the San Andreas countryside, most notably, the Shady Creeks Creature, or Back o' Beyond Creature. The term was also coined by the "big 3" of the woods; Bigfoot, Piggsy, or the Bear. Beyond that, it is anything unknown that lives in the deep woods.

UFOs
UFOs are another popular myth of GTA San Andreas. As of this time, a Rockstar spokesman was interviewed and when they asked him about UFOs he changed the subject. Later in another interview, a Rockstar spokesman said: "We did not initially put UFOs in-game. However, there may be some data still in the game we thought to have deleted." This has aroused suspicion among certain areas of the fanbase. Sometimes on the streets, you can hear a pedestrian discuss about a UFO attack on their car.

Beverly Johnson's Ghost

Many people claim that Beverly Johnson's ghost appears in the kitchen/living room of Carl's house in Ganton.

Bigfoot

Bigfoot is one of the most popular myths associated with the game. Although many people claim that they have seen Bigfoot, there is no proof that he exists, and many videos captured of Bigfoot are either glitches, mods, or made-up. Moreover, Rockstar confirmed in an interview that Bigfoot doesn't exist in the game. Refer to the main article for more information on Bigfoot.

The Big Ear

This myth is slightly associated with The Big Ear. It is about an unknown radio station that appears when you are near the Big Ear. If you are in a vehicle, players say that the strange radio station will be picked up by the car's radio. The sounds that come from the station are said to be a static, fuzzy noise. The strange sounds are said to be the transmitions from UFOs picked up from the Big Ear. Also there are rumors about Mutants appearing there during night.

Three fake images of Leatherface in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, a more prominent myth in the game.

Leatherface has been proved to be a pedestrian who spawns with a chainsaw in the Mission "The Meat Business" and is believed to have been used by Rockstar Games outside of that mission.

Epsilon Cult

The Epsilon Program is a fictional religious cult that is referred to in a number of Grand Theft Auto games, but not yet shown. Led by Cris Formage, the cult first emerged as a teaser site for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and more recently a twitter account for GTA V.

There are several myths and rumours surrounding hidden appearances and references to Epsilon in GTA San Andreas. See Epsilon Program for the full list.

Falling Black Dots

This myth is about small black dots or streaks that fall at a very excessive speed from the sky at night all around San Andreas. These dots are usually too quick to be seen, and the player can only spot them if he is standing still looking up at the sky.

Falling Lemmings

Ghost Grafitti

Ghost Graffiti (from left to right) it appears at evening (20:00) and disappear at morning (06:00)

This myth may have started when a "ghost graffiti" texture glitch was discovered at Los Santos cemetery.

Girl from the TV/Samara

The girl, Sadako Yamamura, from Ringu.

Grave Robber

Grave Robber is a person who steal bodies from their graves in San Andreas, some persons say that Grave Robber is actually Ed Gein. They can be found in Palomino Creek and Vinewood's cemetery. The Vinewood cemetery has a green glowing light, strangely. It's possible that the Mass Grave with body bags has a connection with the Grave Robber myth.

Horses in Las Barrancas

Screenshot showing the legend of Las Barrancas, from the San Andreas website

The reference to horses can be found on the Rockstar website, on the Tierra Robada section of the map. When the cursor is positioned over the Las Barrancas icon, the following text can be seen at the bottom of the map:

A quaint desert town steeped in local history, home to preserved Hopi ruins and the terrible setting of the Barrancas Mass Grave.

Though there is little support/speculation, some people spent some time trying to hear the sound of horses at midnight, but failed to do so. It is unclear which hole was mentioned in the legend and whether it still exists. So far no evidence has been found about the presence of any type of anomaly in Las Barrancas.

Many people have taken the "hole" referenced here to be the mass grave near Las Brujas. This would seem incongruous however, as they are on opposite sides of the river, and the hole in question is both up against a wall and too small for an entire cavalry division to fall into.

Loch Ness Monster

Fisher's Lagoon, the apparent location of the Loch Ness monster.

Phonebooth

Phonebooth and an unknown caller in the desert A popular story about a mystery phone booth in the desert are circulating around the Internet.

The infamous wheelchair.

- Bye-Bye!

This is, however, strictly non-canon.

Although many people try to connect the skip with the wheelchair, It is obvious that Rockstar Games did not bother to create a new texture dedicated to this simple useless model, the skip texture appeared rusty, so that used that instead of creating a new one.

Sharks

Shark found in gta3.img.

Serial killer near his suggested house

Screaming Voices
