The Prison Garments Outfit is an outfit in Grand Theft Auto III. They are, as the name states, prison garments worn by prisoners. The Prison Garments outfit consists of an orange shirt combined with orange trousers and white sneakers. The Prison Garments Outfit are worn by Claude, 8-Ball and the Old Oriental Gentleman at the beginning of GTA III, and they are not seen again for the remainder of the game.

Grand Theft Auto III

In Grand Theft Auto III, the protagonist Claude, bombs expert 8-Ball and the Old Oriental Gentleman wear the Prison Garments Outfit while they are being transfered to the Liberty State Penitentiary in Portland via a police convoy.

While crossing the Callahan Bridge from Staunton to Portland, the convoy is ambushed by a well coordinated Colombian Cartel team, whose intention is to capture the Old Oriental Gentleman as ransom, seemingly caring little of the fate of the other prisoners. To ensure their escape, the team left a powerful bomb on the bridge, resulting in an explosion that damages the bridge and cuts Portland off from the rest of Liberty City.

During the ambush and explosion, Claude and 8-Ball manage to break free. 8-Ball then tells Claude to drive over to a safehouse at the Red Light District. Using a unused Kuruma car, they arrive at the hideout and change their clothes, ditching the Prison Garments Outfit in the process, and the Prison Garments Outfit is never seen again for the remainder of the game.

Exploit

The player can exploit this mission to allow the player character to don the orange Liberty State Penitentiary jumpsuit outside the mission. Requiring a saved game, the player must first load it then then start a new game. Once the cutscenes preceding the mission are over, the player must then load the saved game again, allowing the player character to appear in the jumpsuit in the saved game. By wearing the outfit, the cheat code allowing the player character to assume the appearance of random pedestrian characters is useless as long as the player doesn't save the game. Otherwise, the jumpsuit remains as the player character's default attire permanently.
