Driver is NOT a GTA Clone

Sorry to tell you guys, but Driver was the first 3D Action Driving game (Driver) and the first 3D Action On-Foot Driving game (Driver 2). People who say Driver is a GTA Clone are just jealous that Driver was the first one to get you out of the car. And Driv3r wasn't a GTA Clone either, sure they made fun of Tommy Vercetti, but damn, of course they did! They mocked a PS1 on-foot action game! What else would you expect? /rant

Everyone already knew that. But Driv3r began focusing more on the (terrible) out of car action after GTA III hit the big time. Parallel Lines reinforced that, moreso than 3.

Driver actually is a GTA Clone. Grand Theft Auto 1 (and its series of the same name) was created in 1997, Driver was made in 1999, which was the same year that Grand Theft Auto 2 was created. Also, Driv3r only began focusing more on the (terrible) out of car action after GTA III hit the big time (ie. got extremely popular). ALso, GTA III could have (and would have) switched to a 3D game without the interference of Driver. But since technology advances, GTA III could have been released as a 3D game without the influence of the Driver series. Also, judging by the similar gameplay, similar genre and similar features, it is obvious that Driver is a GTA Clone.--MrLanceVanceDance 04:16, 7 May 2011 (BST)

Is This Page Really Necessary?

The term 'GTA Clone' is the stupidest thing i have ever herd, what if we had only one racing game, one first person shooter, etc. If the term has to be used, how come none of these are?

  • Uncharted: Tomb Raider Clone.
  • Medal of Honor/Battlefield: Call of Duty Clones.
  • Forza: Gran Turismo Clone.
  • Rockband: Guitar Hero Clone.
  • Project Gotham Racing: Need for Speed Clone.

Proposal

I think we need a different type of page. I think we need a comparison between the various GTA-style games, stating the differences, similarities, features etc. Anyone think that's better than this page? gboyers talk 17:43, 9 December 2011 (UTC) As you can see the list goes on. Some of these games are better, including the so called 'GTA Clones'.

Take a look at Wikipedia's page. That article was rated good so there are a lot of information that can be placed under this name.--spaceeinstein 10:01, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Well i'm proven wrong, but you have to admit, it is ridiculous Baseballhater (talk) 05:08, 17 November 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You gotta think, if a person is on a website called "Grand Theft Wiki", I'm pretty sure they know the difference between an actual GTA game and a "Clone" like Saints Row. So the "Comparison" idea is probably the better option. Alejandro (talk) 4:55, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
