The Families is an African-American street gang based in Chamberlain Hills and Strawberry, Los Santos featured in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. Franklin Clinton, one of the protagonists for GTA V is a member of the gang and the protagonist of GTA Online is affiliated with the gang. The gang has a rivalry with the Los Santos Vagos and a bitter rivalry with the Ballas, which is documented on The Underbelly of Paradise. The Families used to control Grove St in Davis but lost the area to the Ballas.

Sets and Territory

There are three distinct sets of the Families in GTA V:

Chamberlain Gangster Families (CGF): CGF is the largest set and their territory consists of the entire Chamberlain Hills neighborhood. They're also referred to as "The Hills" or "Killer Hills". Franklin, Tavell and Lamar are affiliated with this set.
Forum Drive Families (FDF): They're mainly based in Strawberry on Forum Drive.
Carson Avenue Families (CAF): They're mainly based in Strawberry around Carson Avenue.
Grove Street Families (GSF): The HD version of the Grove Street set of the Families has by 2013 been broken apart when the Ballas took over their territory.
