Uptown Algonquin
Uptown Algonquin is the name given to the most northerly region of Algonquin in Liberty City. It is the largest of the three Algonquin regions and is comprised of 8 neighborhoods:
- East Holland
- Lancaster
- Middle Park
- Middle Park East
- Middle Park West
- North Holland
- Northwood
- Varsity Heights
The district is bounded by Nickel Street, which marks the border between Uptown Algonquin to the north and Midtown Algonquin to the south.
The three districts of East Holland, North Holland and Northwood are at the northern end of uptown Algonquin, and contrast greatly to the rest of the region, with the presence of higher crime levels and an abundance of housing projects. The three neighbourhoods round up together a population of 9,164, whom 1,376 is below the poverty line ( 15% ).
