It acts as a transition district between the suburbia of [[Westdyke]] to the north, and the more concentrated, urban centre: [[Alderney City]] to the south. For that reason, Leftwood has mixed land uses. Towards the south of the district, there are more services and denser land use, whilst further north, Leftwood becomes a quieter and more residential locale. Despite its name, [[Westdyke Memorial Hospital]] is actually located in southern Leftwood. Leftwood police station is also located in eastern leftwood.
