The .44 pistol, also known simply as the 44 in-game, is a pistol featured in The Ballad of Gay Tony episodic pack for Grand Theft Auto IV.

Description

Based on the AMP Auto Mag Model 180 with a wooden grip, the 44 is a .44 Magnum-caliber semi-automatic handgun for quick and accurate kills. This weapon is more powerful and accurate than the .357 Combat Pistol, but fires at a slower rate due to recoil, has a smaller magazine size due to its larger cartridge, and has a longer reload time. The 44 is capable of delivering delayed fatal blows; if the NPC is hit by 2 or 3 shots in the limbs or chest (not the head), they may survive for a few moments, laying on the ground, writhing in pain, before succumbing to death.

The pistol can be purchased from Armando Torres' gun van for $640 (with an additional magazine of 8 rounds costing $50), and spawns in Luis' Northwood Apartment on the coffee table in front of the flatscreen after the player successfully completes 10 Drug Wars and "Boulevard Baby". Otherwise, the gun can also be obtained by killing Vic during "Boulevard Baby". In The Ballad of Gay Tony's multiplayer, it is the default starting weapon, unless a specific weapon set is chosen. Like other pistols, it is capable of being used for executions.

The gun was first briefly seen in the second Episodes From Liberty City trailer in which Luis shot a gunman on a plane while driving the Bati Custom and jumped on before it took off.
