At the beginning of the game three people are escaping from a robbery, one of them is Claude and the other is [[Catalina]]. Catalina kills off the other robber and Claude gets arrested, later to be set free by another prisoner who was unrelated to the robbery. Claude returns to the outside world trying to locate Catalina and kill her.  
At the beginning of the game, a getaway car pulls up at a bank. Three are escaping after commiting a robbery, one of them is is an unnamed and non-speaking male (later revealed to be Claude in GTA San Andreas) and the other is [[Catalina]]. Catalina kills off the other robber injures Claude, who gets arrested and takes the blame for the felony. Claude is later set free by another prisoner when the police convoy is ambushed. Claude returns to the outside world trying to locate Catalina and kill her.  


As the Leone Family and Triads pursue him throughout Liberty City, Claude struggles to find Catalina who's already working for a Columbian drug cartel. At the end of the game he finds her and kills her in a long shootout.
