It is based on the Belgian [[wp:FN P90|FN P90]], and it is classified as a [[wp:personal defense weapon|personal defense weapon (PDW)]] as it features a cartridge size somewhere between a pistol round and an assault rifle round (the P90 uses the proprietary [[wp:5.7x28mm|5.7x28mm]] cartridge). It is outfitted with a functional suppressor as minimal muzzle flash is produced when the weapon is fired, however it cannot be used for stealth attacks. The Assault SMG is one of the first [[wp:bullpup|bullpup]]<!--bullpup is one word--> weapons offered in the GTA series. It is perfect in gunfights and easy to carry due to its light and compact size. It is more accurate than the [[MP5|SMG]] and holds 50 rounds per magazine, however it has less stopping power, a common criticism of personal defense weapons. Unlike other SMGs, the Assault SMG '''cannot''' be used by the driver of a vehicle. [[NOOSE|NOOSE's]] Tactical Response Unit and the [[Federal Bureau of Investigation|FIB]] use this weapon against the player in addition to their regular SMGs and Carbine Rifles.

* Originally, the SMG is not meant for the player to use in drive-by, but a glitch may make this possible. First of all, the player have to dial in the [[Cheats in GTA IV|cheat codes]] for the "Advanced Weapon" Set, and also the "Poor Weapon" Set. Now, get a car or a motorcycle, and be sure that you have the poor weapon set. Change the weapon to the Micro-Uzi by pressing X and then dial in the code for the Advanced weapon Set. Now, you'll be able to fire the P90 in a drive-by postion.
