There are several myths in Grand Theft Auto IV, similarly to the last major installment in the Grand Theft Auto series, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Most result from misconceptions of game features or glitches, while others are complete fabrications, and are spread by word of mouth on internet forums or (often faked) Youtube videos.
There are a variety of myths revolving around Grand Theft Auto IV. Most are misconceptions, made up, or simply glitches or bugs. These stories revolve around actual locations and events in the game. Due to the popularity of these myths, people have spent countless time searching for or wanting to know about something that does not exist.

People have mistaken a ghost in the abandoned Sprunk factory in Tudor, Alderney for the Honkers Gentlemen's Club bouncer in Alderney. If the player fires a weapon, a voice from the bouncer can be heard telling the player to leave. If captions is turned on, the caption will show the text of the voice even if the player is distant from hearing range of the bouncer.

It is said that there's a ghost in the abandoned Sprunk Factory in Alderney. A voice can be heard telling the player to leave. Many other screams and whispers can be heard. Captions have also been reported saying "Pleeeeeease Leeeeeeave!" and "You are unable to interact with a pedestrian on street level with a wanted level." The voice requesting the player to leave is in fact the bouncer at the nearby Honkers Strip Club. Huge explosions have been reported and also sightings of entities.

Unidentified Flying Objects
Many player have mistaken distant blinking lights of aircraft as alien UFOs. These aircrafts are meant to be flying at high altitudes but sometimes if the player themselves are flying at high altitudes, the blinking lights can be seen below the player and can sometimes be seen passing through tall buildings.
Many players have reported spottings of UFOs (unidentified flying objects) during gameplay. In actuality, most of these "UFOs" are the lights of aircraft that are flying at an above-normal altitude. Some people have reported seeing space craft others have reported seeing lights that jump around and flash all over the sky.

Ratman
The Ratman is believed to be some kind of creature that can be seen in the subways of Liberty City. There are several variations to the fabled "Ratman". Some say he, or it, has sharp claws and teeth, and frightening red eyes, and an incredible running speed, as well as the ability to kill the player instantly. Others say the Ratman is merely a hobo with a unique set of dialogue. There is no proof regarding either. In online mode your player model can be changed to a "Zombie" that resembles a ratman. As of 2010, the Ratman myth remains unconfirmed; he is said to live underneath the subway in Chinatown, the same exit you use to come out of in Three Leaf Clover. During a special Weazel News report, Mayor Ochoa proposes to flood the subways to kill some rats, possibly a refrence to Ratman.

The Blue Hell
Also while not exactly a myth and more of a glitch there is a secret room in the enterable hospitals. When you walk in, make a right, and then another right. There's a hospital bed right in front of a window. If you throw a grenade under it, it will be launched away and you can run jump through the window. You can then walk around through the walls. If you walk all the way back you walk into empty blue hell, you will then be transported back to the Hospital.
