Franklin is one of three playable protagonists to be featured in Grand Theft Auto V, depicted as the token African-American protagonist in the game.

At his mid-20s and based in South Los Santos, Franklin is mentioned to be working as a repo-man for an Armenian luxury car dealer, repossessing cars of those who defaulted on their payment to the dealership. He is supposed to have stumble into Michael while looking for a hustle.

Franklin is also described to be "fit and fashion conscious".
